Here is Mercy I am's Story
I have not been online chat or posted in a while because of not feeling well, however I have a question for anyone that have sarcoid of the heart. To give a little history, I have had sarcoid for 9 years (1994) and was diagnosed with sarcoid in my eyes and lungs while I was pregnant. After my pregnancy I was sent to National Jewish Instititue in Denver, Co. I was put on 2.5 mgs tablets of methotrexate increasing weekly 2.5 until I got to 8 pill or 20 mgs. for my eyes Pred-Forte 3 drops a day. I did this for a year and was told that I went into remission (2000) well in 2001 I felt a knot on the back of my neck and went to see my PCP long story short found sarcoid has now gotten into my lymph nodes, spleen and liver was put back on methotrexate again starting with 2.5 and increasing until 12.5 mgs and doing weekly labs. My liver enzymes ALT and AST got up to 59 and was told to stop the metho. I was taken to the emergency room in June with chest pains and was admitted had a pharmocology(IV drug) stress test done and failed it also had echo and and image (can't think of the name of test) done on my heart. Right now my heart beat is 118 - 120 beats per minute laying down. The cardiologist that I'm seeing (Dr. Mego) can not explain the rapid heart beat the EKG does not show SVT (super venticular tachycardia) or arrhythmia. He now after 3 echos and 4 EKG's is telling me that sarcoid is or maybe affecting my heart which is whats causing the rapid heart beat. Is this the symptom of sarcoid of the heart? I'm somewhat afraid because I don't know what's going on with my heart. If anyone out there has sarcoid of the heart I would love to chat with you or please give me some information on how they treat this. The cardiologist has given me Metroprolol 50 mgs to slow my heart beat down (not working). It's a high blood pressure medicine but I don't have high blood pressue. Sorry to make this so long but I need someone to talk to.
