Hi all. Scotties flies 22/5/08.

I forgot to say that: If you haven't got your catalogue from "ALPINE ANGLER", then you are missing what is the best bargain of the year, and with the money back offe,r if you buy at least 50 bucks worth of stuff at one go, then it really isn't costing you anything.

It has the usual fly tying hints, and new patterns to try with the recipe for all the new ones they are showing you.

It also gives the biggest selection of "Fly Fishing Gear" in the Southern Hemisphere, without a doubt.(and "NO"!!!! I'm not on the pay roll, only a very satisfied customer, from when it first opened way, way back.

All the staff are fly fishers themselves, and between them, covering every aspect of fly fishing is well covered, so there is always a specialist there to help choose suitable gear, give you fishing hints, where to fish locally, not forgetting the "Fishing Tours" all round the Fishing World" that they organise from Alpine Angler.

.For those who like to browse through pages of flies, gear, tying equipment, rods, reels, waders, anything in-fact, then this is definately for you.

They will send you what you order by return post,, just phone them and you can get organised over the blower, or fill the form in the back of the catalogue, and it's still only a couple of days away. tight lines desi

PS. Remember to send some of your top fish or flies that you tie, this year again.

Dear Idris ( Desi ),

What a fantastic season it has been in the Snowy Mountains. Great fishing with better water levels in the streams and plenty of fish. Lake Eucumbene reached 21.9% at its peak and the Mudeye hatches have been huge through February and March. With some rain the spawn run this year will be a good one. Keep your eyes on our weekly Fishing Report to keep up to date with the fishing in the area. http://www.alpineangler.com.au/index.cfm?PageId=3P Some fantastic new products and news this month.

The Rise Fly Fishing film festival is on tour again in May with a range of Fly fishing shorts and short films

competition. The feature movie for this years show ‘The Search – Tahiti’ is an epic adventure into the South Seas in search of huge bonefish, one of the fastest fish in the sea. Festival organiser Nick Reygaert was a member of the expedition team that hitched rides on local freighter ships to remote atolls in French Polynesia. Although the crew endured plenty of hardships on the adventure they eventually found an uninhabited, paradise island teeming with giant bonefish.

Other features include Fishizzle, a short movie about the trails and tribulations of being an Alaskan fishing guide, which features plenty of big rainbow trout and salmon to keep the freshwater addicts entertained. A section of the recently released Soulfish movie will also be shown and details an adventure into Mongolia in search of the world’s largest trout, the taimen.

The show runs for a two hour evening session and showcases 5 fly fishing movies from different filmmakers, including the winner of Fly Shorts this year’s short film competition. The evening offers something for everyone’s taste with movies from New Zealand, Tahiti, Alaska, Mongolia and Florida.

We will once again be selling tickets for the Canberra leg of the tour. The show is at the same venue as the last two tours, the AIS Theatrette in Bruce. Show starts at 7.30pm on the 5th of May 2008. Tickets are $25.00 and are available instore or online.

Dear Idris ( Desi )

, Welcome to the first E-letter for 2008. We hope everyone has had a great Xmas and that Santa brought you lots of nice new toys to fish with. There will be a few new items listed below that should be of interest also. We have had a great season here this year with some great fishing and plenty of water in the streams and lakes that have risen over new ground and look absolutely fantastic. As I type this Lake Eucumbene is still on the rise and while still only low in overall percentage, the flooding grassy bays have produced some great Midge and Mudeye action. At present Hoppers and Beetles are doing well. The Monaro has fished quite well also this season. You can keep up to date with the fishing on our fishing report at www.alpineangler.com.au
