As I said last month, with the colder weather starting to show , the fish are beginning to bulk up , to see them over the lean period ahead.
Fliesto use this month should be immitations of baitfish, shrimps or prawns.Use bigger than normal hooks if you want to get through the hungry hordes of small bass that seem to be everywhere, as the small fish will have to think if they will be able to manage the bigger baits that have been presented to them, so doing this enables the bigger fish a chance to score the bigger flies, this works with soft plastics and spinner baits as well.
Try " Hinze shrimp's" in black and insect green , "Clarrie crawler's", black, brown and green. Benbacks, rattlin prawns, 2D. and 3D flies, come into their own in the dams, don't pack away your wooly worms and wooly buggers, try them all in a bigger size though.
The Invitational Bass Classic Compitition, is on in three weeks time, I hope that you will all be there, if not compeating in the comp, then pop along on the sunday, as the crack will be good also the raffles have some really top prizes. Camping as usual will be at Crambs Farm.

Don't forget that the Bass classic invitational comp is on, from the Friday the 30th April, to Sunday the 2nd. May.
This is without doubt the best of the fly fishing comps and the best run comp in Northern New South Wales and the border regions of Queensland.
Run by the Bass Association. you never know who you are going to meet, and its really well catered for , all meals are supplied by the Quallified chef and they are a credit to the club.
Clarrie Hall is at it's best for the comp, so roll along, even if you are not fishing, there are wonderful raffles on the sunday and the prizes are great and plenty of them. This is the main chance for the club to raise the much needed Dollar to help with the re-stocking the dams.

26/02/04.
Only two weeks to go to the Blue fin Rotary fly comp.
If you haven't marked this one on your fishing diary then you are definately going to miss one of the best comps of the year. If you have then ,good luck to you and may the
best man in their section win !!!!! or,
the best women in their section win !!or, the best juvenile win in their section or,
the best bankside fisher win.
There are plent of catagories ,prizes and entertainment, to suit all tastes.
the camp site is well run, and free !! and the fish are bitting freely on fly and lure what more could you want.
As usual Des Charles will be there to give out the prizes and to keep it running smoothly, Des ofcourse has recently moved to Tasmania to run a fishing camp but is flying back to oversee his favourite comp, originally it was his comp. Then Rotary ,took it over and with Blue finn ,as their major sponsor, it keeps getting better and better each year.
