The 10 gallon tank is my newest tank. I have Guppies, Mickey Mouse Platies, African Dwarf Frog and a Blue Mystery Snail in there. I call this tank "The tank that keeps stocking itself" because my fish have reproduced! I've owned fish for many years and this is the first time they've reproduced for me. Both species of fish in this tank are "live bearers" which means they give birth instead of laying eggs. There have been many times when I've opened up the lid to the tank to feed the fish and discover a school of baby fish! I'm thrilled that my fish have reproduced and so far they've been keeping the population in check. Even though they'll give birth to a lot of babies, a lot of them don't make it to adulthood. Apparently, they're into cannibalism. I can't blame them. Fish does taste good.
Guppies
These are the Guppies. I started off with 1 male and 1 female. They produced 3 litters. 1 survived out of the first litter, 2 survived out of the second litter and so far there's at least 3 of her last litter. Unfortunately, the female has gone to the Little Tank in the Sky. So far I know I have 2 males, pictured above, and the 5 little ones are still too small to determine what sex they are. Mickey Mouse Platies
If you look at their tails, you can see why they're called Mickey Mouse Platies. It's because the dark circles on their tails looks like Mickey Mouse's head. I've always liked Platies. They're pretty fish. And they've reproduced too! In fact, I discovered their 2 offspring living in the undergravel filter! One day I saw 2 little orange fish in the undergravel tube. How they got in there is beyond me but I had to take it apart and they are in the tank with the rest of them. They reproduced again but none of the fry survived. I believe they were eaten. She looks pregnant again so I may have more Mickey Mouse Platies soon. If you want to learn more about Mickey Mouse Platies, check out this website....

African Dwarf Frog
I've always liked amphibians and African Dwarf Frogs are an interesting amphibian to add to a tank. This guy was a bit smaller when I first got him but he eats well. I'm quite sure baby fish are a part of his diet. He spends the majority of his time hiding out underneath the house decoration. He only comes out when it's feeding time. Something Important
A lot of the critters mention on this page are also sold in this hideous cages called "Aqua Babies". These things are extremely small habitats that are usually meant as a desktop decoration. They look like this...
They've been sold in retail stores, pet stores and at pet expos. For those who don't know, these are NOT suitable habitats for fish, amphibians, mollusks or crustaceans! These habitats cannot properly maintain the critters that are sold in it. The sad part is, the people who sell these things, and I've gotten into it with a few of them, are extremely clueless about proper animal husbandry. If you listen to what they say, the critters who have to live in that thing will be dead in less than a few months. Needless to say, if you are interested in the critters that are sold in Aqua Babies, please do research on them. You will discover that an Aqua Babies habitat is not suitable for these animals to thrive in. These things aren't cheap either. Last time I was at a pet expo, they were being sold as high as $30. For $30, you can buy a 10 gallon aquarium. For about $20 more, you can buy a 10 gallon starter aquarium that has all the accessories you need. There's no sense in paying $30 for Aqua Babies if your critters are dead within a month. Please do not buy these things or anything like it. The critters deserve better than that. To learn more about why you shouldn't buy Aqua Babies, please check out this website....
