I am a former cheerleader and I also coach a grade school team. I have been looking for cute things to make them more interested and enthusiastic about cheerleading since a lot of their classmates give them trouble because they have no idea how awesome it is :) So I have found 2 Christams gifts for girls like these, one is this little thing called a "pom pet". I found it in the Team Cheer catalog. It's a little pom pon that has two little eyes peeking out of the top ;-P Adorable! Plus it's only about $6.00! How great is that? I also was thinking of making each of them a "cheerleader's survival kit" where you toss items like a rubberband to sybolize being felible or a star to remind them how great they are into a nice pretty package with a note explaining each item. I am also planning to have each girl personalize a small plastic megaphone for someone else on the team to take to competition :)

This summer I made spirit flip-flops for my team, and the other coaches. You can go to any store that sells sandals and buy plain flip-flops (choose a base color that will match your school/team colors.) Then go to a craft store and buy fabric remnants or quilting squares. The remnants are usually pretty cheap, and you can get more material than in the squares. Choose team colors, and choose different types of material such as lace, glittery material, shiny fabrics, plain cotton fabric, etc. The more texture you have, the neater the flip-flops turn out. Then you cut the fabric into small strips, and double-knot the material along the straps of the flip-flop. (It is best to decide on a pattern, and then stick with it.) Once you have finished tying the material onto the flip-flops, put them on, and take scissors to trim the material to look the way you want it. If you need more details, email me and I will be glad to help you out. The cost of the flip-flops will vary depending on the cost of the flip-flops and the materials you choose. Have fun!!

Check out my album (YOU NAME IT) under Pictures. It contains a few examples of handpainted cheerleader pictures. You email me and supply the info. and I'll paint according to your descriptions and directions. I accept cashier checks and also personal checks. Allow 7-10 days. (personal checks may require a little longer) These make great gifts for cheerleaders. They sell locally for $35 in two gift shops, but since my share of that sale is $20, I can offer them directly to you at that price. Frames are included. Shipping and handling is $7 extra. I can calculate large orders by request. HOPE TO BE HEARING FROM YOU! Nan

Last year as captain of my freshman squad, I had a sleep over after the first varsity game of the season which was the friday before school started because half of my squad I had cheered with at my old school which was private and the other half we didnt know all that well yet cuz they went to the public school in town. But anyways I made each of them a little keepsake gift thingy. It was a small round clear jar and I put each girls name on them, the year, ribbons and some bulldog paw prints. And filled it with candy. I put them in red bags with tons of spirit things all over em. They all loved em! I hope you all like my idea! Melissa

Our school colors are blue, gold and white. At christmas i bought gold christmas balls, downloaded a picture of a dolphin, printed it to a sticker and placed it on the ornament, I then personalized them, place a blue, white, and gold ribbon on the top for haning. They loved them and it was not expensive!

Here are a couple of inexpensive gifts that the other coach and I give our squad each year: 1. We buy off white canvas tote bags from craft store and computer iron on transfers. Then we scan a squad pic into computer and print it on transfers with the year, squad, and girl's name. The girls carry all their game stuff in the bags and look forward to their new bags each year. 2. We buy the clear plastic snowflake ornaments from craft store. The ornaments have a place for a picture in the center (front and back) and we put a pic of the individual girl on one side and a squad pic on the other. Several of the girls mothers have said they leave the ornaments out all year long. 3. Each year we make a new cheerleading memory book for each girl. I take digital pics all year long (practices, camp, competitions, games, etc). I arrange the pics on a photo editing program with special messages from the other coach and me. Then we buy the cheap one inch binders and cover them with cheerleading material. (Real easy to do with material glue) We put each pic sheet into a sheet cover (they're like 100 for $5.00 at office supply store.) Add in some pages for the girls to write favorite memories printed on pretty acid free paper, a couple of cheer poems, and put it all together. The girls get them at the Christmas party, and we bring extra scrap booking supplies like cheer cut outs, paper punches, extra paper, stickers, etc. The girls usually spend 2 hours just going through the books and personalizing them.

a greate gift idea for a choach is a gift certificit for a local sports store. get each gurl on the team to bring in a certan amount of money(usualy $5 is enough) then have a few gurls go to the local sports suppley store and get and gift certificet and if your coach is female a nice gift basket filled with bubble bath, bathe beads, shampooo, conditioner, and a box of choclate so that she can relax and enjoy her self after the games/compititions is always a favorite at my school and in the basket dont use tissue paper or shreded paper for the filler use cheering pom poms for a lil special touch all your own and find products that are either your school colors or have somethin to do with your mascot!

1. I am going to be making little trinket boxes for the girls. One will be small for jewelry and the other will be larger for scrunchies, hairties, etc.. Everything you need is at a local craft store. I am doing mine out of little cardboard boxes but you could use plastic or wood. I will paint them and add all sorts of "cheer" goodies such as ribbons, pom pons, megaphones (made from balsa wood) etc... Each one will be personalized with the girls name. 2. I am decorating glass vases (very cheap at florists or craft stores). Each will have the girls name, year and other fun things. ie. Huskies Rock, You Go Girl, pom pons, megaphones, etc... (in the school colors, of course) 3. I am also, making frames for each girl. Wood frames are very cheap to buy ($ store, craft store, etc.) Balsa wood makes making cheer accessories easy and wood letters for the team name can be purchased at any craft store. Use the acrylic paints in your school colors and watch your plain brown frame turn into a masterpiece. I was thrilled with mine. 4. Cheerleader christmas ornaments are also easy to make out of clay or a clay produc called femo. It is very easy to work with and lots of fun to. (Not too expensive either) 5. The same idea as the ornaments but atttach a magnet to the back and each girl can have a cheerleader magnet that (sort of) looks like her. (brown hair, blonde hair, etc...) The colored femo makes it easy to match your school colors. I will post photos of all of these when they are done.
