The KEEN connection
Hello
I've only looked at Keen marriages up to 1900 & there are only the
three previously mentioned Keen/Seymour marriages: Thomas/Mary 1820;
Mary/Michael 1825 & Robert/Elizabeth 1861.
Rebecca Stevens (Robert Keen's first wife) was b.1832 dau. of John,
labourer of Oakley, & Maria Stevens.
James Stevens, I think was born 6.1.1813 & bapt.7.3.1813 as James
Stevens/Beckley, son of John Stevens, butcher & Elizabeth Beckley.
The Stevens are a bit difficult to sort out, as there are so many of
them & most called John!
Witney, Folley & Eustace are all names that I'm familiar with, being
connected in some way or another to the Stratford family.

This is how I have pieced together the relevant Keens:
William Keen of Oakley m.1757 Mary Messenger - their children included
Robert bp.6/10/1766 & Charles bp.28/6/1772.
Robert Keen m.14/1/1793 Ann Barnes - their children included: Edmund
bp.20/8/1797 m.26/7/1828 Ann Hepburn
Mary b.25/8/1802 bp.28/8/1802 m.12/2/1825 Michael Seymour
Edmund & Ann Keen's children included Robert bp.7/6/1829 of Oakley.
He married 1) 8/12/1855 Rebecca Stevens & 2) 30/11/1861 Elizabeth
Seymour, daughter of Mary Keen & Michael Seymour. Robert & Elizabeth
would have been cousins, if I have it right.
I have any amount of information re the Stratfords of Chinnor & round
about, as this has been my main line of research. (My
gg.grandparents, Joseph & Rachel Stratford came out to Australia in
1848). I'm not sure that Mary Stratford who witnessed Robert &
Elizabeth Keen's wedding was Elizabeth's sister, as I can't find any
relevant marriage. Let me know if you have any details on this, as I
am interested in all Stratford information.
I think just about everyone in Chinnor was connected in some way or
another, as I have found several Seymour connections:
Mary Keen/Smith (the previously-mentioned daughter of Charles Keen)
had a brother Thomas Keen who married in 1820 Mary Seymour, daughter
of Richard & Mary Seymour.
Also, my ggg.grandmother was Ann Franklin who married William
Stratford in 1800. Her sister was Mary Franklin who married Ephraim
Seymour in 1810. Ann & Mary Franklin were the daughters of Edward
Franklin & Jane nee Britnell.
There are numerous connection between various Stratfords & Seymours as
well.

Have enclosed my KING family of southern Oxfordshire but no SEYMOURS
mentioned. I know Sydenham is not far from Chinnor, you would think
there may be a connection. The majority of my family came from Aston
Rowant and Sydenham areas, mostly by the name WHITE and HESTER.
