African Three Peaks Challenge
Sonja from Shirley Ladies Circle along with her husband Steve are heading for Africa
in less than 2 months time for a 16 day African Three Peaks Challenge.
After one night to recover from the flight into Tanzania and a safety check of equipment, they will head straight into the trek up Mt. Longido, summiting at 8850ft/2700m. From there they will walk out through savannah and rain-forest to Mt. Meru, Africa ’s fifth highest peak at 14980ft/4566m. Finally, they will head onto the summit of the “white mountain” Mt. Kilimanjaro , which at 19340ft/5,895m is the highest peak in Africa and one of the Seven Summits.
They are doing this to raise money for both Sense and Acorns Children's Hospice.
They have paid for all the costs associated with this trek so each
and every £ raised goes straight to the coffers of the charities concerned.
Please visit one of their website and help if you can
Alternatively, if you would rather not sponsor online, please contact Sonja via email sonjagraham590@btinternet.com with your full address (so they can claim gift aid) and the amount you would like to sponsor and to which charity, she can add you
to their sponsor forms.
Charity/CAF cheques are also very welcome.
This is a picture of them when they climbed Kilimanjaro in 2005.
However, this time it is going to be a much bigger challenge because it is
3 peaks in 2 weeks, Mt Longido (8850ft/2700m),
Mt Meru (14980ft/4566m) and Kilimanjaro (19,340ft, 5895mts)!
So please help them to raise lots of money and make such a daunting challenge worthwhile!!
