Membership Matters
Just wanted to update you all in terms of membership matters.
Excellent news that over the last 10 months we have inducted 12 new members!!
So where have these recently inducted new members come from
you may well be wondering - well, from a variety of sources :-
1) The Shirley Ladies Circle Website
This website this year brought in
Jo who joined in November 2007
and
Sally, Fiona and Jacqui who joined in January 2008
(Incidentally we have as a result of the website had 3 ladies get in touch interested in
joining Circles where they live (South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Manchester and
Shirley (in Croydon) who have been passed on to their nearest Circle).
2) Round Table
We inducted Tracey into Circle in May 2007 via Gary in Shirley Round Table.
3) Tangent and 41 club
Inducted in April 2007 were Helen and Kathryn. Their parents who have now
moved onto Tangent and 41 club were once both in Table and Circle and
encouraged their daughters to come along to Circle.
4) Race for Life
Circle put up a membership stand, handed out leaflets and spoke on the
race radio about Circle which resulted in two Cancer Research UK
volunteers wanting to find out more about Shirley Circle.
We are delighted that Sonja and Jenny both decided to
join Circle and were inducted in April 2007.
5) Friends and personal contacts
Sonja encouraged her friend Julie to come along to Circle
and Julie joined in September 2007.
Helen brought Anita to Circle and Anita also joined in September 2007.
6) Newspaper and magazine articles Newspaper and magazine articles have also generated interest and resulted in ladies interested in finding out more about circle who have since come along as guests.
7) Solihull Carnival
At Solihull Carnival in June, we set up a membership stand by the tent where we were
serving teas, sandwiches and cakes. We put flyers on the tables about Circle and Table
and forthcoming events that people could sign up for. This resulted in :-
Debbie who joined in September 2007
Fiona - who joined 3 years ago has a a follow on story to joining Shirley circle in
that she encouraged her husband Charles to go along to Shirley Table
(our brother organisation), he joined. He then told his brother James who also joined,
who encouraged his wife Sharon to go to Circle, where she joined as well!!
So from 1 initial lead with Fiona has resulted in 2 new members for Circle
and 2 new members for Table - excellent stuff!!
Well done to everyone for making all our guests, prospective members and recently
inducted new members feel welcome in Shirley Ladies Circle.
