APRIL 2006

Blog from Uncle Tom:

Unfortunately I wasn't able to visit the first flight of the Wright Brothers. In fact, I don't exactly remember the details of the flight. I want to say it was 14.3 seconds or maybe it was over 1 minute, I don't really know. Anyway, today I witnessed the same flight. I think I almost had the same feeling that the on-lookers had as they watched the historical flight for the 14.3 seconds or whatever it was.

So I watched my son in his first flight attempt on a bicycle and I was able to easily imagine it as quite the same as the Wright Brothers. The anxiety of a potential crash, the excitement of something never done before, the wobbley path, etc, etc, etc...

I think he flew for about 14.3 seconds and then softly crashed into the grass.

Talk to you all soon,

Tom

April 21, 2006:

I'm getting ready now to go to Heath.  I can't wait to workout.  I love it!  I can't wait to skate again, too.  I have been landing some double axels and triple loops so I'm really happy about that but can't wait until I start my new training program.  Later today we will take Misha to the rink from his school.  I may skate today....am not sure though.  I'd like to but it depends how I feel at that time and if we rather finish up our packing and all that.  We were going to leave this weekend but we were invited to the Mitrofanov's for Orthodox Easter so of course we are going to celebrate with them.  Then we will leave this next week.  So, I'm going to miss Fiesta Skate.  Good luck to everyone out there!  Sk8 Gr8!  And have fun!  I'll see ya soon!

April 17, 2006:

First of all, welcome to the world Tucker, born at 5:30 am this morning!

Next, here's a poem I wrote that I'd like to see become a song and then  use as an exhibition piece someday.

"Hold On"  (Unsure on the title...send in your ideas for title)

Hold on...Hold on little girl.

Forget about the people who didn't believe in you.

Forget about the people who criticize you.

Just hold on...hold on to that dream of yours.

So many times you've been told you couldn't do it.

So many times they said it couldn't happen.

But hold on....hold on to those dreams of yours.

There are those who believe in you...who want you to succeed.

So for them, hold on...hold on to that part of your life.

You want this....you need this...you can't live without this.

This is your destiny.  This is your future.  This is your life.

Through the sweat and tears, through the cuts and falls,

you've held on...held on to that dream of yours.

You can't give up.  You won't give up. You've gotten this far.

You've held on tight and you won't let go...you'll never let go.

It's not just for you.  It's also for them out there watching you.

Let them see.  Let them know...how much you love what you do.

Look where you are.  Look at the happiness you have and the joy you give.

Look at them smiling at you.

Keep fighting.  Keep on going.  Keep on straight ahead.

There you are...out there.  Let them see the true you.

Let them know your dream.

So hold on....hold on little girl, to that dream of yours.

Easter 2006:

So it was a quiet Easter.  No bunny, no candy, no family, no Easter dinner, no church.  It was just me and my mom.  Well, also Max!     We DID get to talk with my grandma, JJ, and Josh!  That really made my day!    My grandma made a ham dinner for the family but of course we didn't get to Az in time.  My mom has a lot of neck pain.  She had to have an x-ray the other day.  She has a hard time even sitting.  I don't know if you remember me telling you when she fell from putting up my bed canopy and hit her head and had to have a cat scan but we think something also happened to her neck.  She should know the results of the x-rays this week.  She has to lay with her head laying over a big puffy pillow cause it's the only way her neck doesn't hurt.  So, the packing is going really slow.  Anyway, that's why we didn't get anywhere today.  It's sad though.  It was like it wasn't Easter at all, except that I got to talk with my family on the phone.  We are both really sad because my mom and I are both feeling really trapped right now.  But, we ARE trying to remember that today is to be a glorious one because it is a holiday to remember our Lord Jesus Christ conquering death.  He is alive and praise God we can know He is with us.  Well, am gonna go visit my neighbor friend and see what she got for Easter.

Love,

Sarah Kidd

April 11, 2006:

It's beautiful out today!  It's cloudy but the air is just perfect!  Last night I babysat Shane so his mom could go to a church class.  He is just the cutest little boy!  Now today I'm doing some exercise with the TV.  It's really fun doing the fit tv classes.  Then, I have school to do.  After that we are going to clear out our closets.  I don't think we will get to AZ by easter but that is ok.  We will get there soon!  I'm so excited!  I'm planning to watch Fiesta Skate when we get to Phx and cheer on some of my friends there.  It will be a lot of fun to see them all compete.  It's always a good competition and now it's at the Polar Ice rink, which is a nice place for a competition.

Skate KC is over now and Misha got a 1st and 2nd place.  I'm proud of him.  He is going to be a very good skater with a lot of personality on the ice.  Zach also skates at Misha's level and I guess he did great too.  I"m really proud of them both.  I wish Kevin was still skating because it was always so fun to see those three boys competing together.  Ashlie skated her first pre-juvenile competiton and I'm so proud of her because she made it to the final round on her first pre-juv try.  She will only get better as time goes and I'm so happy with her because she is a hard worker and always tries her best.  I wish I could have been there to cheer her on.  Her whole family supports her so much and work their tail end off just so she can skate.  It's really a great story but I'll let her tell it.  As far as the others, I have not heard yet how they have done and the results are not up yet.

OMG!  You should see my brother's new pic on his website.  IT is so awesome!  It's the pic on his myspace account where he is sitting on the word joshskalniak.com .  You can check it out by going to my personal site at myspace.com and he is on my top 8 so you can then click on it and see the pics.

Ok, better get going cuz I got a lot to do today!  I'll write again later.

Luv ya all,

Sarah Kidd

P.S.  Jack, I'm miss ya!

April 7, 2006:

Ok, so my mom and i are getting ready for the big move.  you just can't believe how much stuff we have and what all we have to do.  i really just wish i could be there...like now.  i'm so ready to be outa here.  it's like when you know you are going to start something new and you just can't wait for it to happen.  my mom says we'll try to get to az by easter.  that would be awesome!  i so miss my brothers!  i can't wait to start training too.  i'm still working with my personal trainer, heath, but i am just anxious to start working with my new coaches and getting on the ice with a purpose.  i can't wait to start competing again and getting ready for regionals.  i have a lot i want to accomplish and i'm so ready to get it goin'.  one of the coaches i will be working with is angela nikodinov.  she is working in torrance, california right now and trying to get a new training facility/rink going in cherry valley.  it is hopefully going to be done in a year or so.  ivan dinev is her partner with coaching so i would have him too.  i also want to try a couple other coaches as well but my main focus right now is to get started with her.

Cherry Valley, California below:

Today i worked out with my trainer, Heath, and then i worked out in the cardio room (here in our complex) and ran 5 miles.  i haven't skated much becuz i'm really just wanting to move on to the next place with my skating and i just can't seem to feel much here without a coach or training facility.  i also don't want to mess up my jumps.  when we get to az, i'll skate some but mostly i'll be waiting to really get into it when we get to where i'll call my home.

can you believe it is almost easter?  wow!   i'm really hoping i can see my brothers and grandparents then.  my grandma always cooks the best holiday meals.

ok, just wanted to do an update.  i gotta go and do some more packing.

luv,

Sarah

Tornados
What a great April Fool's Day only it wasn't a joke...it was the real deal.

Ok, so it's  that time of year for weather.  i luv weather but we're really getting hit this year already!  on thursday  i went to my trainer, Heath.  on the way there we ran into a really bad storm.  we couldn't even see out of the car window because the rain and wind were so strong.  we had to pull over and so we were late to my session.  (oh weeellllll!)  when we made it, there wasn't any electricity in the gym and i trained without lights.    then when we left we had to go pick up misha from his school and go to the rink.  the tornado sirens started going off while we were driving towards the rink and there were green clouds, the big sign of a tornado.  we turned on the car radio and found out there were two tornados in town!  we were like racing to the rink cuz we thought for sure we could get in the shelter there.  yep!  as soon as we got there we were ushered to the boys hockey locker room, where the shelter is for the rink.  everyone was told to be in this shelter area.  we had to take max in becuz we were afraid he'd get blown away in the car.    there were a lot of ppl in the locker room.  but can u  believe it?  a coach was with a student giving a lesson on the ice even tho everyone had been escorted into the shelter.   it was a very dangerous time with sirens blaring becuz there were 2 tornadoes on the ground here in town, but of course the coach can't miss out on his half hour of pay...it's all about the almighty dollar isn't it?  i mean the student should have been thought about and out of harm's way.  the staff had told everyone to get into the shelter area!  of course that is just my opinion but everyone knew the truth behind it and it keeps hurting me to even know that.    anyway, after the storm passed we took off.  i didn't skate.  and we didn't get blown away.  but i heard a semi was blown off the road in mid-town and there were some houses damaged and lots of trees down.  now tonight we are getting another storm.  we are suppose to have severe storms and maybe tornados tonight and tomorrow.  i probably won't sleep much.  i looked outside and the lightning is striking straight down!  it flashes and lights up the sky where i can see rolling wall clouds!  the rain is coming down.  we turn on the weather channel and see we are in trouble tonight!  i hope the sirens don't go off becuz that means we have to go outside and walk to the shelter.  ugh!  i remember when we first came  here...it was tornado season.  we were in a walmart store and a storm hit and the sirens went off.  the management of the store came on the intercom and told us all to go to the back of the store.  there were 2,000 ppl crammed together and everyone was on their cell phone, including my mom, who was calling our family in az.   u could hear the wind and feel the massiveness of it all.  i guess a tornado went right down the road by the store!  great welcome to this state, huh?  now i'm moving away and it's tornado season again.  isn't it ironic?
