APRIL ACTION
2002

First of all, I have to tell you that Pepper is doing better.  He is at home with us and mom is giving him antibiotics every day.  He is also going potty on his own...but is doing it everywhere...Yuck!  At least he is home with us and he is alive.  He still is not all the way well so keep praying for him....thanks!

Next.....yes, this is Fiesta Skate month!   I am so excited and can hardly wait.  To see when I skate and all the other good stuff with Fiesta Skate go to www.skatingclubofphoenix.com .  I think you go to the right corner and click on Fiesta Skate and then the next page you click on schedule....etc.  Anyway,  I have 4 axels in both my technical and artistic programs so I am really excited.  I am finally landing them consistently...just pray I land them in competition....ok?   I feel good about my programs but guess what?  I don't have my dress for "On Golden Pond".  I had one at Tucson but the bottoms were not long enough and I kept pulling on them so we sent it back to be fixed....but, it just never fit right so yesterday I got a dress from a friend of mine, Joanna and her mom Patti, and she is putting all the fancy beads on it....nothing like a last minute fix.  I'm also desperately needing my new boots....mom is just waiting for her income tax check to come so she can buy them.  They are at Kelly's shop called Pro's Edge Sports (www.prosedgesports.com ).  By the time I get them I will have outgrown them...oh well.  We have to get them soon though because the ones I am in are rotted.  The blades are alright but the boots are really bad.  Kelly can't believe I can even skate in them....but I have to....so what else can I do?   I'll skate no matter what...until the skates just fall off!  I think after Fiesta Skate I am going to do something else though with my programs though.  I like both of them but I want to do something else.  I really want to do "Yellow Rose of Texas".  I would love a beautiful bright yellow dip dyed dress...doesn't that sound beautiful?  And of course I am just dying to do "Braveheart".  I think I want to be a really good skater before I do Braveheart, though, because it is very special to me.  I want a specially designed dress with the original material from the Braveheart movie and I want a program that is choreographed in a very special way for me....you know I want to be the little girl that William Wallace fall in love with....and gives the thistle to.  I want to have the thistle in the program some way too.  Anyway, let me know what you think.

Charlotte's Web opens this weekend....I am so excited!  And what's really cool is my grandpa Tom is going to come and visit me from Omaha, Nebraska on the 22nd.  He is going to get to see me compete at Fiesta Skate AND see me in Charlotte's Web.  Isn't that cool?

I wanted to tell you guys, too, that Jack Carter's off ice training has been just the funnest class ever!  He is the greatest coach...I wish he would come over to the rink and do some stroking classes for us....he is such a motivator!  We all have such a blast and the work out is tough too.  I feel so good when I leave there...like I could actually be in the Olympics.  He gives us homework and I actually like doing it.

Well, this week is going to be tough....lots of practice so I get my programs down....but, I love it....make sure and pray for me because I really want to do my best at this competition.

Hey, don't forget to check out all the pictures, and as soon as Fiesta Skate is over I'll post some more....there will be so many fun moments there....I just love having a big competition at our rink.  I get to meet so many people from all over the country.  It's awesome!  Tammy told me I can be a runner this year and I'm really excited about that too.

Well....better go for now.  I'll write some more when I think of some more stuff.

Love,

Sarah

4/22/02

Hi everyone!  Well, just a couple days until Fiesta Skate.  It is going to be so much fun!  I can hardly wait.  Just a couple more practice sessions.  We are selling our bears at the competition with proceeds going to the special skaters.  The picture of the bear with the rose is one of the things we are selling.  Isn't he cute?  Some of the special skaters are going to help us too.  And then, I get to skate...that is the best part!  My grandpa is coming from Omaha, Nebraska and will finally get to see me skate.  He is staying with us for a week and will also come see me in the Charlotte's Web play on the weekend.
Oh....and I have to tell you that my mom finally got her check and we went right down to Kelly's shop (Pro's Edge Sports.... www.prosedgesports.com ) and paid for my new boots.  After Fiesta Skate we are going to pick them up.  I really thank God for providing a pair of new boots....I really needed them.  I'll have a month to break them in and work on my moves for the test on June 1st.  I hope I'm ready by then because I really want to test.

Pepper is doing so much better.  He just wants to say thanks for all the prayers!

I have one more prayer request.  Please pray for an old man named Vern Harmon.  We came upon a car accident two days ago with about 5 cars all spashed up and my mom got out of the car and helped the old man...I think he was the one who crossed the center line and smashed into everyone.  He is pretty old.  Anyway, his head went through the window and my mom got rags out of the trunk and helped him until the firemen came.  He was bleeding on his head and he also cut his arm really bad.  She just stayed with him and held the rags on his bleeding parts.  Her hands got all bloody.  But, she talked to him and asked him his name and everything.  That is how we know his name.  She just told him everything was going to be alright and helped calm him down.  We left as soon as help got there so we don't know how he is, so please pray for him.  There was a lady with a broken wrist and another guy with chest pains and I don't know about the other cars.  It was pretty bad though.   Sorry about the gory details but it was kind of scary for me.  What was weird was when we left and turned down another street you could see people sitting outside restaurants eating and having fun and no one even knew that a horrible accident just happened a couple blocks away.  Everyone just goes about their business and no one even knows the tragedies that are happening all around them.  That was so weird to me...thought I would just share that with you because it affected me for the rest of the day.   But, I'm glad we stopped to help.

Well, Jack Carter's first session of off ice training just ended.  Our last session was really tough, but fun.  He is such a good coach.  I'm hoping he will come to the competition to watch us skate.  I know he is very busy with elite gymnasts but he really is special to us.
The next session starts the Thursday after Fiesta Skate.

Well, I better go but I'll write ya later......
Love,
Sarah
