DECEMBER 2005

December 31, 2005:
Happy  New Year's Eve!  Tonight is the end of 2005.  I'm excited because next year is going to be very special.  I'm ready for what lies ahead for me with skating.  This next week I am getting my new long program and am more than excited with my new music.  I am going to skate to Edvin Marton's "Art on Ice".  I love  it!  Plus, I love my short program too.  I'm excited to get triples in my program as well as new moves and difficult footwork.  I want to work hard and expand my skating more than ever.
All  of my coaches are amazing. They have helped me so much and I love working with them.  Aleksandr Zaitsev is so much fun and really pushes me to a new level.  I wish I could  go with him to Russia when he returns at the end of January.  Maybe someday I will.  Evgeny comes this next week and he is so awesome too!
Christmas was lonely without my brothers but I DID get to talk with them.  I was sick last week with a virus and sinus infection but I went to the doctor and got on an antibiotic and feel much better now.  I did not get to go down to see my aunt because I was sick so we will probably go see her this weekend.  I was showered with wonderful gifts, especially from Jack and his family.  They spoil me rotten!  But, I'm not complaining!
My Husker Football team played in a bowl game against Michigan and won so that was a happy night for me!  That game was so scary.  I mean it went to the last second.  It definitely was very exciting!  Fun, fun, fun!

Happy New Year!

December 23, 2005:
Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and I'm so sad because I'm not with my family.  I really want to get to Arizona to be with my family.  I miss them so much.  It hurts terribly to be without them.
We finished our shopping for my brothers and all the family but did not get our stuff out in the mail in time to get to everyone by Christmas.  We will have to call and let everyone know.  This year was hard for my mom because we don't have money and she wants to give to everyone.  We DID get to participate in our church's Christmas tree gift giving.  We gave our pastor the names of about 5 families from our complex that will be having a slim Christmas.  All the people were so generous.  My mom took a picture of all the presents and as soon as the film is developed I'll add it because it shows how generous everyone was.  The people who received the presents were very happy and it was so fun delivering them all.  I felt like one of Santa's elves.
Last night our skating club had their Christmas party.  We did a gift exchange and everyone brought food.  The theme was "Christmas Around the World" so people brought dishes from their heritage.  We all  had alot of fun!

December 19, 2005:
It's almost Christmas and we still have not had  a chance to really shop for anyone.  We have been so busy with skating and other things.  I really wanted to go to Arizona for  Christmas because I miss my brothers so much but my mom says we can't afford it.  I really hope something comes through so we can go.
This last weekend was really nice.  My mom and I took Cheyanne to church Sunday morning and then that night we had a kids program and we took  Cheyanne, Tristan and Kat.  They really liked it.  I can't wait to see all the kids' faces when we drop off the presents from the church's Christmas Tree gift project.  They don't know anything about it so it will definitely be a big surprise for them.

I have had some great skate workouts lately.  Today I did my double axel in my program.  I landed alot of them.  I am just loving the double axel and triple salchow.  It's so much fun!  I want to work on the other triples too.  I'm also working  on my intermediate moves.  I'm having alot of fun with skating right now.

Ok, I have to get going and work on some Christmas projects.  I'll write soon.
Love,
Sarah Kidd

December 11, 2005:

I hope everyone is having a great Holiday season.  Christmas is the time to celebrate the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ.  It is my favorite time of year.  There are so many ways to show our love for our Lord with gifts of ourselves to others.  This year there are so many in need.  First of all I would like to remind everyone that I am sending a box to Robert Cassalia and the guys he works with in Iraq.  I am a volunteer with Soldiers Angels and will be sending a Christmas box so if you want to help participate in this project please email me.  I have a list of requested items on the Christmas List page so check it out.  Remember, too, those who have been trying to rebuild their lives following the hurricanes.  Also, the homeless are in need of coats, food, and shelter so give of yourselves to your nearest shelter.

Today was the Marshall's Challenge and I really enjoyed it!  I voted for Matt Savoie in the men because he is absolutely awesome with how smooth he skates.  And then I love that Michelle is trying to make a comeback following her hip injury.  I know she is still in pain but she cannot be counted out because even with her injury she looked like she will be able to come back.  I love her new short program!  She is the most graceful skater ever.  Sasha is a great skater but Michelle is an icon.  I will be praying for Michelle that she make a complete recovery because I know she can do it!

Last week my mom and I drove out to Colorado to watch the Junior Nationals finals competition.  It was held in Westminster, Colorado.  The competition experience was so much fun and I really feel it helped me learn what I need to work on as I move on to the intermediate level.  We saw Katlynn McNab and met up with her and her family.  They are so nice!  Katlynn made it to the Juvenile final round.  She was awesome, as usual!  She just fell on her double axel (she had a great one in warm up and in combination) and ended up with 4th place and a medal.  Way to Go Katlynn!  You make us proud!  There were alot of very good skaters.  It was fun to watch!   we DID get to see Max Aaron skate and he was amazing with his speed and power!  Max placed earned the bronze  medal.  My friend, Susanna, came up from Colorado Springs, too.  It was fun to see her there.  We took pics at JNs so check them out in the new photo album.

After JNs we went skiing in Breckenridge.  I have never skiied before so I was really excited to go.  It was very cold and I didn't have any ski clothes with me but I still wanted to try it.  It was snowing alot and the wind was very strong but it was beautiful there.  I did not take any lessons first so when we got to the top I freaked out!  I had no idea how to ski and I started out by falling on my face!  Everyone left me and I felt afraid.  I ended up coming  down on the lift.  I made my way into the restaurant, where my mom was, and cried about how I was a failure and all that.  I was really down on myself.  We sat and watched the other skiers and then I decided I was going to make it if it killed me.  So, I took the lift back up and this time I made it down on my own.  Yea!  The day went by so quickly and I wish I could have had more time to ski.  I really wanted to do more and get better but guess I'll have to wait until next time.  It really was an awesome time!

In Omaha we have been so fortunate to have Alexander Zaitsev come and stay here for a few months.   I think Alexander would be a big help to our club and even be able to help with the workload.  He taught the on-ice and off-ice classes while the kids were at JNs and he was great!  All the kids and parents loved having him and I know they all would love to have him be able to help out our program.  We took pics of him teaching our classes so check it out.  I think I put them in the Premier FSC photo album, which is on the second page of albums.

Lessons have been alot of fun lately because I love doing triple salchows and double axels.  I want to try the triple loop!  I'm getting excited to get these jumps in my program.  I can't wait!  Evgeni  is coming the first week in  January to work on our programs so hopefully by then I'll get them in.  I want them for the Winterfest competiton.

Well, I gotta get to bed because it's an early morning tomorrow.  I will write more tomorrow.  I can hardly wait to skate in the morning!  I just love it!

With much love,
Sarah Kidd
