December 2007
December 9, 2007:
Happy Holidays Everyone! I'm so excited for Christmas and it's coming so fast! On Monday the 17th, we are having our Christmas skating show. I am skating a solo and then also a duet with Jennifer. The duet is called "We're a Couple of Misfits" from the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" cartoon movie. I"m Rudolph and Jennifer is the elf that used to be a dentist. It's a fun program. My solo is my dramatic artistic to "The Prayer". I love that program! The Christmas Show is from 4 to 5:30 pm at Polar Ice in Chandler. Anyone can come. It is free. On that Sunday before I'm in the Theatre on Ice production. I was helping in that class so I guess I'm doing a couple solos in it. The Theatre on Ice class is actually something the learn to skate kids sign up for. The theme is Disneyland music. The show starts at 2:30 pm next Sunday at the Polar Ice rink in Chandler. Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door.
Lately I have been working on my novice moves in the field and hope to test them in January. My spins are getting much better and now I can do the outside edge camel. My double axel is getting better all the time and I have been landing some clean triple loops. I have so much work to do yet and it just seems I never have time to get it all in. I am still working out at The Polar Gym with Master McGowan. I love the tae boxing. I also work out at the YMCA on the elliptical machine and with some weights. I"m still working at the rink too with the Learn to Skate classes as well as snow days and the therapeutic class. Plus we are finishing up that Theatre on Ice class.
With Christmas coming up so fast, I am really working on what I can get my family for gifts. I am going to make a few (I can't tell here yet). I don't have money to buy much but I want my family to have a great Christmas with lots of things to open this year. We got our Christmas tree up. We still have everything in storage in Omaha so we had to get a new tree. All of our decorations are in storage too. WE got some pretty ribbon and made our own bows and then we picked up some ornaments. I really think it is the most beautiful tree we have ever had. I love it! Our main colors are blue, silver and red. I'm going to take a picture of it and then share it. The only presents under it are a couple for Max, my dog. Ha! We have an evergreen tree out in the front that my mom is going to put some lights on. We also have a wreath on the door that is very pretty. I'm always playing Christmas music when I'm home and we have it on in the car all the time. I love Christmas! Can you tell? Anyway, on to what I'm wishing for this Christmas:
*New skate bag
*Big stuffed animal
*Gift card anywhere
*Makeup or anything like that
*Ipod
*Video Camera
*Camera
*Stuff for my room
*Anything to do with skating, especially new Harlick custom boots, skate pants, tights, skate bag and dress.
*Clothes
Ok, that is pretty much it but I'm happy with anything, ha!
I'll try to update more now. I have been so busy that it has been difficult updating but I will try to do better with it.
God bless!

December 20th, 2007:
Last weekend was a very busy time. On Sunday afternoon I was in two shows with the Theatre on Ice class. We had lights and everything. It was very cool. I had a little solo as a queen bee. The song was beauty and the bees. Ha! It was a lot of fun but soooooooo cold! I wanted to cry so bad because my feet and toes were hurting too much! When I took off my skates, my toes were white, not red! I think I actually had frost bite! We had two shows back to back. I helped out a lot behind the scenes. Then, the next night, on Monday, we had our Christmas show. It lasted over 4 hours! People just came and went. Ha! There was a potluck too. Jennifer and I did our duet to "We're a Couple of Misfits" from the Rudolph cartoon movie. We had so much fun doing it! We really hammed it up and played with our skating! Then, I had my solo. I skated to "The Prayer". I absolutely LOVE that song, and program! I was so happy when I was skating that I never wanted to get off. My family was there to watch me! My grandma and step grandpa came. My grandma never comes to watch me skate because she thinks she is a jinx! Ha! And I don't think my step grandpa has EVER seen me skate. Then, both of my brothers and their girlfriends came too. I know Josh has never seen me do a program and JJ has not seen me for like YEARS! I was just beaming with joy that they were all there. I was nervous too. But, I skated the best ever! Josh was loving it and so impressed. Then, Master McGowan came and watched. He was standing at the side of the rink and I started to laugh during my program when I saw him because he was beaming from ear to ear with his silly grin! I was happy he came too. I just can't tell you how happy I was skating that night. I loved every minute! Afterwards there were quite a few people wanting to take a picture with me in front of the Christmas tree that is inside the Polar Ice rink. It wa funny! Lots of kids wanted to get their pic in front of that tree.
So now that the shows are over, it is back to working on moves, jumps and everything in between! I have so much to learn during this next year!
Oh, we went to get my skates sharpened. My blades had to be remounted AGAIN! They were twisting. I found out that my boots just aren't strong enough for me. I have to be careful because I could break my blades because of the twisting that is happening with the boot. Kelly, from Pros Edge Sports (or www.discountskatewear.com) told me I need steel reinforcement in the boot and the only two boots that have that kind of reinforcement are Harlicks and Klingbeil. I guess I'm going with Harlick. I need the light weight custom boots. They will cost over $700! I just got my Jackson's in March and now I'm already needing these new boots! Please pray about this because my mom needs $250 for a deposit to get the order going. It will take two months for them to come in, too. We are hoping to be able to do this by mid-January. I don't need new blades right now (as long as I don't break them) so that is a good thing. My blades should last another year. My mom also talked with Kay Evans about a new dress. I think we need $150 to get started with her. I love her work! We will re-measure me and send her my music and she will make a design. I'm excited about that too. So, my mom has to come up with some money that she really does not have. She is just trying to start a new business that is an errand running business called "Angel in your pocket" Errand Services. It's very cool but she has just started and it will take awhile to get business going.
We are also looking to move closer to the rink. I'm really excited about this. My brother, JJ, has gotten us some new furniture and then we are going into a new 2 bedroom apartment that is close to the rink. I'm not sure on the date yet but it isn't too long. Our lease is up on the 30th so we have to be moving very soon. I'll update when it happens.
Ok, I will write before Christmas. But I hope everyone is having a great Christmas season! We don't have money for gifts but we are trying to enjoy the season just the same. Hope you all are too!
Love always,
Sarah Kidd
December 31, 2007:
So it's the end of the 2007 year. I have to say I'm really ready for 2008! I have so much to work towards this year and I'm excited by what lies ahead. I know the road is not going to be easy but I really have so many goals I want to reach this year. First, I have a foot injury and I have to get to the bottom of it. I need new boots that are custom and also steel re-inforced so that is my first hurdle. I have some moves tests I need to get out of the way so I have a lot of work there. I have several triple jumps to get down and I have a lot to improve on with my spins. I have coaches to pay and I need to get my programs choreographed to meet the needs of the new system plus allow me to pull out my strengths. We are getting ready to move into a larger apartment. My mom is still sick and yet wants to work and get her own business going so she can help more with my skating. I have so much school work this year too. I want to get my school work out of the way so I can focus on my other goals. So you can see I have a lot to deal with.
Christmas was great! We went to my grandma's. My brothers came too, which made everything perfect! We spent time together and that meant the most to me. I hope everyone else was able to have the joy from being with family that I did.
So the end of the year is now here and it's time to move on to what lies ahead in 2008. God bless everyone and thanks for being such wonderful, supportive friends.
