July 2003

July 24, 2003

Hey everybody!  I just passed my preliminary freestyle test!  I'm so happy.  And next week we leave for Denver to get ready for the Colorado Championships.  I'm so excited.  Wish me luck, ok?  I love my program and dress.  My mom took a bunch of pictures of me in my dress so as soon as I get them developed, I'll put them on the site.

I have to tell you that yesterday we were going down the street and you know what was on the side of road?  A turkey!  It was just sitting on the side of the road in some grass and in between some trees.  It was so funny!

Oh, also, did you know that Kurt Browning and his wife had a baby boy this month?  How cool!

Well, I gotta go...

Bye,

Sarah

Yesterday I got my dress.  It came in the mail in a really nice box from Satin Spirals.  I was so excited!   I opened it and it was so beautiful!  I couldn't believe it!  It was prettier than I thought it would be!  I tried it on and it fits nice. (It is very heavy and there are tons of beautiful stones...big and small).   There are a couple places where it is a little big but my mom is going to have it altered a little.  I just love it!   I can't wait to take a picture in it and share it with you all!  The picture on the Satin Spirals website doesn't even show how pretty it really is.  We took the dress to the rink to show my coach and he said it was better than he expected, which is pretty good coming from him.  I was a little embarrassed because my mom had him look it over while I was wearing it and had him look at everything to make sure it fit.   I mean it was embarrassing to have a guy check out the fit.    I'm glad he is happy with it though.

Today I landed all my jumps in my program.  I was really happy.  I'm getting so excited for the competition!

Tomorrow I am going to try and take some pictures of the new friends I have at the rink.  I hope to put them on the website soon, too.

Bye,

Sarah

Hope you all have been having a great 4th of July! Happy 227th Birthday America!

This has been a great 4th of July for me!  First of all, I have never seen so many fireworks in all my life as I have here in this part of the country!  It's awesome here!  Every night for over a week I have seen a show of fireworks somewhere!  On Thursday we sat in lawn chairs out in the parking lot of our apartment complex and watched the fireworks from all over the city!  Our complex is kind of high on a hill...there are lots of rolling hills here.  We live at the edge of town and there are alot of beautiful new homes going up around us.  Anyway, we also have a corn field next door to us and beyond the cornfield there are housing developments and you can just sit out and watch people shooting off giant fireworks!  I mean everyone has those fireworks like they shoot off in the shows.  It's amazing.  It sounded like a war.  And guess what?  Fireworks are illegal in Omaha....yea, right!  It was so nice out and the fireworks surrounded us.  The next day, on the 4th, we packed up and went to Lincoln and parked the RV in the same park my grandma and grandpa Boyd stay at. We visited my aunts and then went back to the RV park.   My grandma got chicken and we also had potato salad, coleslaw, beans and buns.   First we watched the show from the top of the hill of the RV park.   There were even more fireworks in Lincoln than in Omaha!  I mean everywhere you looked people were shooting fireworks!  It was awesome!  After we watched for awhile, my mom and I drove to a park and shot off the fireworks we bought.  There were other people there shooting them too.  It was so much fun!  They were beautiful!  We didn't get done shooting them until 12:15 am.  After that we went back to the RV park and went to bed.  In the morning it was a whole new day and you'd never know there had been fireworks the day before.  It was so quiet.  We picked up our film at Walmart and then visited my aunts again before coming back to Omaha.  I'm going to try and get these new pics on the website but I have to first buy some more space.  (We've been trying to contact MSN to do it but haven't heard back yet)  I'll let ya know as soon as I get the space.  I might try to take a few pics off in order to get the new ones on.

Did you know it is only 3 days until Pirates of the Caribbean comes out at the movies?  I can't wait.  I might go on Friday night instead of Wed. because of skating.  I got the book and I've been reading it.  I love Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp.  They are awesome!  My book has pictures from the movie.  It looks like it is going to be a really fun movie.  I like how it is also a love story.  Elizabeth and Will match and go good together.

Only 3 more weeks of practice until we leave for Colorado.  Ok...now I'm starting to get nervous.  I know I should not expect much since I have not competed in so long but I still get nervous.  I mean this is the first time I have competed while living here and I don't want to make a fool of myself.  Please pray for me.  The last time I competed I never wanted the program to end.  I hope it goes that way again.  We ordered the dress, as I told you all last week, and we are waiting for it to arrive.  I can hardly wait to try it on!  I am also going to be testing this month.  That makes me even more nervous!  I'm sure everything will be fine but it still is nervewracking.    I love it though!  It is so exciting!

Here is a silly picture of my comedian brother, Josh.  He is the one I told you is the stand up comedian and has been voted the Funniest Guy in Arizona.  He is opening for The Go Gos on July 19th in Phoenix and has been quite the hit at The Improv in Tempe, Az.

The picture below is a picture of my other brother, JJ.  He is 24 years old.  He used to play college football until he tore both of his knees.  I love both my brothers and miss them right now.

Here I am outside our new apartment in Omaha.  Don't ask me what I'm doing.  Who knows.  I'm standing by the living room windows.  The back door and storage room is to the left, as is my room window.  The front door is to the right.  It's a cool apartment.

Well, I don't have much else to say for now.  I'll write again soon.

Love you all,

Sarah
