May 2006

May 28th: Today is my birthday and I'm now 14 years old! WOW! Now that's weird to say. LOL! Anyway, I had a great birthday! First of all my brother, Jeremy, and my mom and I went to the movies. We saw the new Lindsay Lohan movie, "Just My Luck". I loved it! It was my kind of movie and very funny. Then, my grandma and grandpa had a pizza dinner and then cake and ice cream for us. They had trick candles on my cake. They were so cool because they were like sparklers. My mom took some pics so I'll share them soon. My grandma and grandpa gave me some gifts and my brother Jeremy put a ton of new songs on my ipod. It's just so cool of him to do that! My mom hired two new skating coaches for me, Angela Nikodinov and Ivan Dinev. They are so amazing! I just love them. In fact, I just love the skating in California and the rink where they coach out of. Everyone is so nice and especially Ivan and Angela. They are so good and they love what they do. Angela is so pretty and when I had my first lesson with her, she just fixed things instantly. I am so sore! I love it! The skaters all look so happy to be training and working hard. Everyone has such good form and are fast and powerful too. I met Tenile Victorsen, Dice Murakami, Joseph Jacobsen and Bianca Butler, William and many others. They are so nice and also such amazing skaters. I can't say it enough...this was my best birthday gift ever! I love California and the skating there.
Well, it's really late so I gotta get to bed so I can skate tomorrow and practice everything Angela and Ivan taught me. I'll tell ya more about everything later. Tomorrow is Memorial Day so I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday. I'm going to my brothers' tomorrow to have a barbeque but I'll write again.
Love,
sarah
My birthday is May 28th-YEA!
Birthday wish list:
New Skates and Blades! I need these more than anything else. I want nothing else, well, except for my new coach and program.
May 9, 2006:
We are now in Arizona and I'm so happy to be back home. It seems like I was on a very long trip. I'm grateful for everything I learned while I was with Premier FSC and for the friends I made. But, it is definitely time to move on. I really miss Aleksandr with my skating. He is an amazing coach and I hope I can get with him again. Maybe we can talk him into coming back to the states. I definitely need him right now with my skating and conditioning.
Anyway, I went to the Coyote's rink and skated and it was fun but I know my style is different from what they teach and so I won't be training their permanently. But, I always love going there because they have a lot of high level skaters. I LOVE skating with high level skaters because it motivates me. I think next week we will be going to LA to meet with a coach there and check out the rinks and also look for a place to live. My brother Josh is there this week. He went early to check out his new place and also interview for a few jobs. He should be back tomorrow.
Our trip from Omaha to here was a nightmare! I can't even describe how long and hard it was. We were so packed in our car that there was only room for me to sit, my mom to drive and Max to lay on my lap. When we stopped to get gas or anything, we had to crawl out! And Max would always get in the way! Poor thing! He had no clue what was going on. He slept most of the way, and was definitely NOT our knight in shining armour saving us from the big bad guy.....we went through a horrible storm in Oklahoma that scared my mom and me so bad that we were crying and praying and pleading with God. (Haha! I can laugh now) We stopped in this gas station to ask if there was a bad storm ahead because we saw lots of lightning but the cashier said they didn't think there was anything coming. Ha! We went right into this nasty thing that supposedly had tornadoes and was one of the worst lightning storms ever. We were about 100 miles outside of Oklahoma City in the middle of the night and the wind was so strong, the rain came down in buckets and I thought for sure we would hydroplane off the road. There were no more gas stations or exits and we had no where to get off to find cover. It was so scary! Praise God we made it to OK City and I kept thinking why on earth would Laithe Al-Zubi want to live here? UGH! (Sorry laithe) We sat in a "Flying J" truck stop for a couple hours waiting for the storm to pass. Then, we drove off and somewhere down the road the car carrier broke open and my VCR/DVD player went flying down the interstate. Again, we were in the middle of nowhere. Now what do we do? I tied the carrier down a little with whatever I could find and then we drove slowly to the next truck stop. Guess what? No rope or anything that would work. So we had to drive on. It was still raining a little and semis would fly by us, spraying us with rain water. We finally found a place that had some rope for sale. We got the carrier tied down tight. My mom drove on until we made it to some town called Shamrock, OK. We then parked in front of a Taco Bell that was not open and fell asleep for a little bit. The bad end of this trip started with my mom getting a speeding ticket in Kansas and she did not think she was even speeding. But, the speed limit is 70 mph there, compared to 75 in Nebraska. The guy was not very nice and gave us a warning for me watching my computer movie with the earplugs in my ears. We did not know it was illegal for me to watch a movie on my computer. Oh well. He gave my mom a ticket for speeding and that's when it all started. The next day of driving was long. We drove all the way through and what normally would be a 24 hour drive turned into a 30 hour trip. I was so happy to get here. The energy in a city is what I have missed.
I saw my brother Josh do his final comedy show here before moving to LA. He is amazing! He had two acts open for him that were pretty good. But, Josh did his act for an hour and I laughed so hard for that entire time that I thought my abs would be sore. I'm really proud of my brother and I know he will make it. He is doing what he loves!
We also saw my other brother Jeremy and he is doing good too. We helped him rescue his kitty named Say ah tay. I'm so glad we found him. Jeremy has been so worried about him. Say ah tay is now staying with a neighbor of Jeremy's because he can't have him at the place he is living right now since his current roommate is allergic to cats.
Max and my grandma's dog, Tony, seem to be getting along really good so far. We take them both on a walk everyday. It seems like Tony is always showing Max all of his favorite places. The only bad thing is the weather is so hot here. I am not a hot weather person and neither are my mom and Max. But, it will be cooler in California so we can last for awhile. I love being here with my family. I feel like I'm home again.
Ok, am gonna watch a movie with my grandma and grandpa so will write again later. Keep us in your prayers as we look for my new skating program and home.
Love ya all....
