REDUCE YOUR RISK FOR STROKE

( Trust me, you DON'T want one! )

Know your blood pressure ~  work with your doctor to keep it under control

* Find out if you have AF (atrial fibrillation) again, work with your doctor to control it

If you smoke ~ QUIT

If you drink alcohol ~ MODERATION is the RULE

Know your cholesterol number ~ if it is high, work with your doctor to lower it (lowering your cholesterol may reduce your risk for stroke)

If you are diabetic, follow your doctors orders to control your diabetes

EXERCISE! ~  exercising for as little as 30 minutes a day may reduce your risk for stroke

Work with your doctor to control circulation problems if you have them

~*~

There are a few risk factors that are beyond your control such as: your age, being a male, being an African-American, having diabetes, or a family history of stroke

STROKE KILLS

STROKE CAN DISABLE

STROKE CAN HAPPEN MORE THAN ONCE

STROKE and its SYMPTOMS SHOULD BE TREATED AS A MEDICAL EMERGENCY
