National Trust
Working Holidays
Below you will find a list of the working holidays I have been on, and fingers crossed have booked to attend in the future!
For anyone who hasn't heard of them, a lot of people I guess! The National Trust run working holidays where you pay a small fee (between about £65 to £90 at time of writing this) for a week to go on a holiday where you work on one of the Trusts estates to help conserve them for the future. There is a large range of holidays from building footpaths to counting flowers to studying archeological sites, basicly something for everyone as long as you don't mind a bit of hard graft and getting wet and muddy in some cases, all mixed in with a lot of fun and good company. The holidays are aimed at groups getting to know each other and meeting new people and having fun at the same time!
Why did I go? Well I saw an advert in the Trust magazine, I had a weeks leave and nowhere to go and would have been sat at home bored so I thought why not! Also I have spent many a time walking over and eroding footpaths on NT land so decided it was only fair I put something back into the landscape I was guilty of eroding.
I enjoyed it so much I booked a second one within a week of getting home and now I am shortly to train to be a leader! (Additional info, I have now passed my Leaders course!)
