Consecration incense

By Scott Cunningham.
From "Incense, Oils & Brews"

2 parts wood aloe
1 part mace
1 part storax (or gum arabic)
1 part benzoin

Grind together with mortar & pestle (or in coffee grinder used only for herbs & cleaned thoroughly after each use) while visualizing intention for use.
When purifying or consecrating magickal tools, jewelry, quartz crystals & other stones, smolder this incense & pass the item to be consecrated through its smoke several times. Do this while visualizing the fumes purifying the item.

Evening Devotion Ritual

By Barb.
At the end of the day, right before I go to bed, I perform this ritual to expressgratitude to the 5 elements for the blessings of the day.
I light first the goddess candle at the left of my altar, then the god candle at the right. I step back from my altar & ground & center as follows: Facing north, I take a deep breath, set my feet shoulder-width apart, raise my arms up & out & visualize my feet as tree roots reaching deep into Mother Earth, drawing her energy into my body. I visualize my arms as tree branches, reaching up to Sky Father, drawing his energy into my body. Then I say, "There is one power which is goddess (feeling receptive energy flowing in me with my arms up in the goddess position) & god (feeling projective energy flowing in me)", crossing my arms right over left in the god position as I say "god". Still facing north, I raise my arms staight in front of me, palms forward & say, "Element of earth, I am grateful for the blessings of prosperity & stability today", visualizing all the physical needs that were met during the day. I lower my arms, turn to the east, raise them forward again in the same way & say, "Element of air, I am grateful for the blessings of creativity & clarity of thought today", visualizing mental needs that were met. I lower my arms & turn to the south, raise them again & say, "Element of fire, I am grateful for the blessings of courage & energy today", visualizing energy needs that were met. I lower my arms, turn to the west, raise them & say, "Element of water, I am grateful for the blessings of patience & love today", visualizing emotional needs that were met. I turn back to the north, raise my
hands straight above my head, palms up & say, "Element of spirit, I am grateful for the blessing of the knowledge of how to use the power for the highest good of all", visualising the wisdom received. I lower my arms, place my palms on my altar to ground the energy, saying, "I retain only the energy necessary to get restful sleep & have helpful dreams that I remember & use in my life. All excess energy I return to the Universe where it can be used for the highest good of all", feeling the energy leave me, energize my altar & disperse to be used as the Universe sees fit. I extinguish the god, then the goddess candles, saying "I am grateful for the power of the god & goddess within".

Kyphi Oil

By Everyday Magic by Dorothy Morrison.
This is a wonderful oil for banishing negativity and destructive entities. It also invites good spirits into the household. I can attest that itworks well. You can use oils or make it with herbs. I use oils. Cinnamon, frankincense, lotus, myrrh, pine or cypress, olive oil or other oil of choice. Just add amounts that "feel" right. Use for blessing candles, your home, where ever you need some protection.

Love Spell - Sweetening Someone Towards You

By Barbara.
You will need

1 small clean white plate
1 solid pink candle
a small piece of white paper
sugar

Write the person's name (whom you wish to attract) on the paper.
Place it face down in the middle of the plate.
Sprinkle the sugar over the paper.
Light the candle and place on the paper.

Keep candle burning all day (in a safe place).  Relight every day until it is burned down.

Never blow out a candle with your breath... it breaks the spell.  Extinguish with a glass or candle snuffer.

Morning Devotion Ritual

By Barb.
In the morning, before beginning my day, I perform the following ritual at my altar to align myself with the 5 elements.
I light first the goddess candle at the left of my altar, then the god candle at the right. I usually also light an incense appropriate to the planetary energies, or needs of the day. I then step back from my altar & ground & center as follows: Facing north, I take a deep breath, set my feet shoulder-width apart, raise my arms up & out & visualize my feet as tree roots reaching deep into Mother Earth, drawing her energy into my body. Still facing north, I raise my arms staight in front of me, palms forward & say, "I am element of earth. I am blessed with prosperity & stability today", visualizing all my physical needs being met & having physical health. I lower my arms, turn to the east, raise them forward again in the same way & say, "I am element of air. I am blessed with creativity & clarity of thought today", visualizing productive ideas, inspiration, intuition & mental health as mine. I lower my arms & turn to the south, raise them again & say, "I am element of fire. I am blessed with courage & energy today", visualizing passion, desire, strength of will & sexual health as mine. I lower my arms, turn to the west, raise them & say, "I am element of water. I am blessed with patience & love today", visualizing emotional health as mine. I turn back to the north, raise my hands straight above my head, palms up & say, "I am element of spirit. I am blessed with the knowledge of how to use the power for the highest good of all", visualizing wisdom as mine. I lower my arms, step forward, place my palms on my altar to ground the energy raised & say, "I retain only the energy necessary to live a productive, joyful life today (visualizing the fulfillment of any special needs I want met). All excess energy I return to the Universe where it may be used for the highest good of all", feeling the excess energy flowing from my palms, into my altar & then dispersing as the Universe sees fit. I extinguish first the god candle at the right, then the goddess candle at the left, while saying, "I am grateful for the power of the god & the goddess within."

Spiritual Housecleaning

By Kathryn L. Robyn.
This could also serve as a Book Recommendation. Try these & see how well they work!

Your entire home can be sacred space if you treat it with respect & understanding as to how its cleanliness or lack of it affects aspects of your life.

  • To invite more nurturing into your life, clean your kitchen
  • To connect with your soul & its purpose, clean your living room
  • To have healthy self & body images, clean your bathroom
  • To rid yourself of doubt & failure, clean cracks & crevices
  • To dump baggage from your past & childhood, clean your basement, closets & storage areas
  • To draw a sex life healthy for you, clean your bedroom
  • To set up healthy boundaries in your life, clean your hallways, walls, floors & ceilings

It also helps these aspects of your life if the corresponding places in your home are asthetically pleasing to you as well as clean. The author of Spiritual Housecleaning warns, however, that too clean is not necessarily a good thing & may invite a sense of sterility & barrenness into your life.

Spontaineous Combustion Magick

By Djinnjen1.

No, I'm not refering to people bursting into flames (although that visual imagery might apply). I'm talking about a very fast but effective way of working magick. It could be characterized as "reverse engineering on the fly". When presented with a problem, and not enough time to address it, this approach has brought me spectacular results.

You start with a loose definition of what you want to accomplish. Now, I know most people are thinking this is a bad idea already, but bear with me. If the problem is an unexpected bill, or immeadiate need for a car repair, then all you need to think is something to the effect of "I am working magick to bring relief from this problem". Then begin working the magick.

Now comes the fun part... Begin going through what you have around you. Don't forget to look in the places that you don't normally think of as "a place to store magick stuff". This process relies heavily on creative interpretation. As you pick things up feel them, look at them, smell them, listen to the sounds they make, heck even taste them (yes even the weird stuff, like rubber hoses). If these things "speak to you" about your problem, they just became part of the solution. As you acquire more stuff relating to the problem, you will become more focused on the solution. Since you are acquiring it through interaction and creative interpretation, you will raise the power you need as a natural side effect. (i.e. "Boy, were my creative juices flowing!").

One word of warning, you will gain momentum during this process. So remember to be honest in your intent. If the problem is money, and you pick up a stone that reminds you of your bosses desk, are you really looking for some fast cash, or your bosses job? Feel free to throw back anything that suddenly strikes you as being out of harmony with the greater picture. Defining what we don't want, only helps us be clearer in what we do want.

When your "picture" is complete, simply state aloud how each of these things represents your problem, or your desired outcome. Don't worry about charging and cleansing. These things lent their insight to you, remember? They are already Divinely charged and cleansed. A quick prayer is appropriet at this time, but not required as you have been conversing with the Divine throughout the process. Wrap the items in a white cloth, towel, or small bag, and do whatever feels right with them! I generally try to carry my picture with me throughout the day, but I once knew someone who hit hers with a hammer ( to release the spirits of the items so that they may do their jobs ).

This process is great, if you have a swiss cheese memory (like mine) and no time to consult books, charts, or notes. It's also quite handy if you're caught away from your cupboard, since it relies on nothing more than the "mundane" world, and you.

The Great Flush

By Barb.
At the Dark Moon, I write whatever I wish to rid myself of on a piece of toilet paper & while visualizing the unwanted thing leaving my life, I flush the piece of toilet paper! Sounds silly, but it works for me - with free will for all & harm to none, of course!
You can embellish to your heart's content, adding candle-lighting, incense-burning, herbs, oils, whatever. You can cast a circle, or not, as you wish.
