WHAT IS THE COMPASSIONATE CARE BENEFIT? The Government of Canada created the Compassionate Care benefit to help Canadians deal with the demands of a family member who has a serious medical condition with a significant risk of death. This benefit will be made available to Employment Insurance (EI)-eligible workers in a given family to share when a parent, spouse, child or common-law partner are at significant risk of death. When will the benefit start, how long will it last and who is eligible? . View HRDC Update online. http://www.hrdc-drhc.gc.ca . or call 1 800 206-7218, or visit your local HRDC office.

SUMMER STUDENT EMPLOYMENT

It is a program initiated by the Department of Canadian Heritage and managed for Quebec by the Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec (FCCQ).

It offers you the opportunity to fill summer employment jobs at a lower cost.

Please take note: Because your organization is part of an official language minority community, you have the possibility of hiring someone from another province, in your own region or from another community near yours. These two last criteria take precedence over the geographical exchanges.

To participate in the YCWBOL program means that you will:

Þ Encourage the creation of summer jobs;

Þ Profit from the expertise of a bilingual student, that will work in their field of study;

Þ Benefit from a financial aid of up to 50% for businesses and up to 70% for non-profit organizations;

Þ Promote your region to other Canadians.

Are you interested?

Then, we invite you to fill out the application form that will be available during the month of December at www.youngcanadaworks.ca.

All applications received before February 1st, 2008 will be the first to be taken under consideration, projects received after that date will proceed if funds are still available.

For more information, please contact the YCWBOL Secretariat:

By e-mail at jctycw@fccq.ca or by phone 1 800 361-5019 ext. 3241 or ext. 3231

Yours truly,

The YCWBOL team for Quebec
