Newcomers have much to teach us

As the political chattering class debates the reasonable accommodation of minorities in Quebec through the Bouchard-Taylor Report .One often hears how newcomers must respect our society's shared values.

Considering that most Quebec newcomers are hard-working savers who value larger families and a good education for their children, make less demands on government - all areas where Quebecers have fallen behind the rest of the country - maybe the newcomers have some values they can teach us. Kevin Erskine-Henry Published in the Gazette June 2-2008
