Born and raised and lived in Antigua for 20 years before leaving to study in Canada.  It is an emerald in the Caribbean.  I treasure the time spent there whenever I go back on vacations.

Historical sites to visit are Shirley Heights,Nelsons Dockyardand Lord Nelsons' House, Clarence House, and the Interpretation Centre at Dow Hill. You cannot forget our beaches 365 it is said , one for each dauy of the year.
For a touch of culture enjoy Carnival in August, and jump to the beat of sweeeet pan music and calpysoes, not forgeting the local dishes of pepperpot and fungee, potato dumpling ,and saltfish ,or just some goat water or fried fish.
Shop in down town St. John's or visit the Woods Mall for a little of Cosmopolitan shopping. The people are friendly but do not get involve in their politics. You will be sure to enjoy beautiful Antigua, "the heart of the Caribbean".

I consider WADADLI my second home.  I lived there from 17 to 25, finishing 6th Form at Antigua Girls' High School and starting my first job there - Princess Margaret School.
What is particularly lovely about Antigua is the warmth of the people.  I came there really a stranger, and in less than a month's time, I felt as if I belonged.  So long as you don't have the kind of conceitedness that we Bajans can express sometimes when we go to other islands [Man, back in Barbados....], you are welcomed with open arms.
Next thing is the beaches!!!!!!!!!  Very lovely.
There is not a great deal of formality and classism there.  Life is rather laid back.  Enjoy!!

The Island is great.  Always something to do,because they really know how to party. Therefore you must check out 18k and Traffic's in St. Johns. Hot, but many beautiful beaches to cool you off.
