Celestine Prophecy

By James Redfield.
Review from Amazon.com

Reviewer: Tara D. Samuels from Chicago, IL USA
I have a compellation of both works in one book. The messages that I received from this book were both inspiring and life changing. I have read this book three times and I get a better understanding of life every time I read it again. If you are one who is seeking spiritual guidance and a positive force within your life I highly recommend that you start with this book. I have awakened unto a new spiritual self and awareness. I have learned how to hold on to my visions and it has helped me learn how to impove the quality of life through myself and with the help of others.

Don't Sweat the Small Stuff...and it's all small stuff

By Richard Carlson, PH.D..
The sub title of this richly rewarding book is "Simple Ways to Keep the Little Things From Taking Over Your Life". Isn't that the outstanding problem for you and me?

Carlson, who was co-author of Handbook For The Soul, has compiled 100 daily readings for you and your significant other to read, review and discuss. I would recommend the book as one of the best I've found to enhance a relationship not yet decided on a direction. Each section contains smart topics such as "Turn Your Melodrama into Mellow-Drama".

If you and yours haven't yet decided on a daily subject for devotions, meditation, quiet time or whatever you name it, this could be the book for you; especially with Easter season coming up.

Copyrighted in 1997, it is 248 pages in length and includes a Suggested Reading section.

It's hard to learn everything in every good book out there, and we each choose what interests us enough to learn more about it. We have a lot of folks at this site who are avid readers, especially of books that "add a sprinkle of knowledge to the human soul". Just as importantly, we have the folks who have the "Know How's" when it comes to just about everything. So let's share our knowledge. I'm always open to learning something new everyday. You never know when you'll need it in your life. Just gave myself an idea for another page!

It's Only A Flat Tire In The Rain

By Max Davis.
A warm, funny, and truly inspirational book about turning life's toughest challenges into opportunities for renewal and personal growth.

Accidents occur. Stock markets crash. We make mistakes. No matter how much we plan or prepare or prevent, adversity still finds a way to surprise us. Some of these adversities are small but frustrating, like flat tires in the rain. Others are not so small, like illness or loss.

But, says Max Davis, a former pastor, we all have the ability to turn our tragedy into triumph, our hurt into happiness, our outrage into outreach. Davis himself has faced and cleared some of life's highest hurdles. When he was at his personal worst--unemployed, steeped in debt, and uninvolved with his children--he almost gave up. Instead, he systematically rebuilt his life from the bottom up.

Through his personal trials as well as his work counseling people in crisis, Davis created the Seven Power Tools for Changing Those Flat Tires in the Rain. Filled with these and other tried-in-the-trenches techniques, his book incorporates old-fashioned values, new-fashioned wisdom, real-life stories of everyday people, and a big dose of faith to help readers find empowerment and peace in the midst of life's difficult circumstances.

Talking to Heaven

By James van Praagh. Since first utilizing his extraordinary gift, James Van Praagh has appeared on numerous television and radio shows that include Larry King Live, Oprah, Good Morning America, Entertainment Tonight, 20/20, and 48 Hours. His unique paranormal experiences during the past twenty years are recorded in his best selling books Talking to Heaven, Reaching to Heaven, Healing Grief, and his most recent endeavor the proclaimed Heaven and Earth - Making the Psychic Connection. James' books have found international acclaim, being translated into over twenty-five languages and found in over thirty countries. In April 2002, CBS produced a successful television mini-series "Living with the Dead", inspired by James' life and his first book, Talking to Heaven. This CBS special starred actor Ted Danson, and was the highest rated mini-series for CBS in 2 years. Talking to Heaven gave me a whole new prospectus as to what happens at the end of our life here on earth. Incredible read folks. Recommended by MSN NicknameBonBon482, 2/14/2006.

The Road Less Travelled

By M. Scott Peck, M.D.
Reviewed by: Terry Nippard

This book, first copyrighted in 1978, was the first of a series by Peck following the theme of "rarely chosen directions in life". I discovered it in 1989 and used it as the topic for a paper in college, studying Social Work. As time passed, it has become the basis for a whole program I've developed around love and peace which addresses ALL of man's ills and sources of discontent.

The book is subtitled "A New Psychology of Love, Traditional Values and Spiritual Growth". The words speak for themselves, as the author explores humanity's struggles and challenges with decision-making and change, especially in light of using the real values of love-oriented motivation as opposed to the misconstrued and easy way of love our generation has come to know. His opening line in Chapter One is, "Life is difficult", followed by, "Once we truly know that life is difficult... then life is no longer difficult."

I warn you, if you are open of heart and mind and have the willingness to be unabashedly self-critical, this book could be your source of the most challenging self-improvement you will ever undertake. Though more bent toward the Christian perspective (in my opinion) Peck's writings and reflections span the whole myriad of world religion and philosophical thought and practice.

It is simple, user-friendly and practically devoid of painful tecnical language. Peck presents as a veteran psychiatrist and clinical psychotherapist who, as a man, has undergone a great deal of personal soul-searching and uses real-life experiences to back up his findings wherever possible. It is well-worth the read.

The book is 315 pages in length, available in both hard and soft cover.
