SNORKELLING FOR ADULTS

With the availability of holidays both in warmer climates and in the UK plus the various films and documentaries about the fascinating underwater world around them people are increasing tempted into a desire to explore it for themselves.

Such a window on this fascinating environment, which covers more than two thirds of the world's surface, can be provided by a simple facemask. As our eyes were not designed to focus underwater we require an air space in front of our eyes in order to see clearly. Correct use of this simple piece of equipment forms the basis of one of the fastest growing sports worldwide - Snorkelling.

The addition of a simple tube to allow easy breathing without lifting the head, and a pair of fins to aid propulsion completes the basic kit. However, as with most sports, in order to gain the most from it, some basic instruction in the use of this equipment is advised.

After just a few hours tuition with STOURPORT DIVERS the aspiring adult snorkel diver, through gaining increased confidence, will be ready to explore this strange and exciting watery world. A certificate will be awarded upon completion of the course and further training can lead to recognised qualifications for which certificates and certification cards are available. The SAA (Sub Aqua Association) is our UK Governing Body for all underwater swimming, both Snorkelling and SCUBA diving

Snorkel training is on Sunday afternoons 3-45pm to 4-45pm during the months Sept-April at the Stourport leisure centre, Those interested in developing their skills can become members of STOURPORT DIVERS and of the SAA and continue training to higher grades at their own pace, The basic snorkel course is an ideal “build up” for those who wish to learn to SCUBA dive but have concerns about their abilities,

All instruction is by qualified SAA instructors.

The 6-week snorkel course is just £25
