The Duke of Edinburgh award scheme
S.O.S. Divers is a small friendly "non profit making" sports club run by volunteers that can offer both SCUBA diving and snorkelling courses to student undertaking the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme,
Thanks to receiving lottery funding we now offer free loan of scuba equipment to all new members as they go through basic pool training.
S.O.S. Divers is a member of The Sub Aqua Association and differs from the PADI system in that a student "joins the club" and during their membership we teach them to dive, we believe that club based training is by far the best, safest and cheapest way to learn (price comparison) plus with a club you get so much more that just a quick dive course, besides the social aspect of the club, each new member receives all the following,
12 months membership of Stourport Divers
12 months membership of the SAA (Sub Aqua Association)
12 months dive insurance
The “lets dive” manual and qualification log book
As much training as they wish to fit into the membership period
Free loan of SCUBA equipment during basic training
“One on one” training, (much safer than with some dive schools)
Associated subsidised courses (boat handling, VHF radio, photography, 1st aid, ect)
Organized dive trips to inland sites, our coastline and dive holidays abroad
Both male & female instructors, all SAA instructors CRB checked
Training is at The Stourport Leisure Centre on Sunday afternoons between the months of Sept to April with the basic physical skills and associated lectures spread over 12 weeks.
SCUBA diving and snorkelling both come under physical recreation section of the DofE award and the 12 months membership could apply to all bronze, silver and gold awards.
