  1. Does your partner hit you?
  2. Does your partner continously criticized you?
  3. Does your partner call you hurtful names?
  4. Does your partner humiliate you in public?
  5. Are you limited in your finances and does your partner control all aspects of your spending? Checking the milage on your car? Setting time limits on your trips to and from the store and other places you visit?
  6. Are you being isolated from your friends and family? Being told when and where and whom you may talk to?
  7. Does your partner ignore your feelings and blame you for things that are wrong in the relationship and their life?
  8. Does your partner destroy things that are precious to you?
  9. Does your partner continually accuse you of unrealistic behavior? Possibly accusing you of affairs with others?
  10. Does your partner punish you by makeing you watch your children being punished or your pets?
  11. Does your partner prevent you from working or seeking employment or going to school?
  12. Does your partner deny you affection and use it as control to get what they want or use it as punishment?
  13. Does your partner abandon you or put you in situations that are unsafe?
  14. Does your partner have sudden mood swings or go into rages?
  15. Does your partner ever lock you out of your home or your vehicle?
  16. Does your partner threaten you with violence, saying later that they didn't mean it?
  17. Does your partner manipulate conversations, lie to you, and contradict your statements and thoughts?

If you notice... only one of these signs involves physical abuse. These actions toward anyone are not normal. These are ALL abusive behaviors.

If you answered yes to any of these questions... its time to get out and get yourself to safety.
