Weight Pulling is a great test for Working Ability
The APBT has had a bad rap in the press over the years and it needs more recognition as a good working dog. Weight Pulling is an acceptable test to prove your dogs drive and working capability. A dog that is weight pulled is fed a proper diet, trained, and conditioned to give it the best advantage to compete. You can't make a dog pull a heavy cart, they do it out of love and the willingness to work for their owner. If the weight is too heavy they let their handlers know they can't do it by sitting down or barking. Buying a dog that is genetically bred for weight pulling and working capability is the first step in a rewarding relationship with your working dog. Pit Bull Terriers do exceptionally well at weight pulling and love the sport, it is evident in their desire to weight pull. This breed of dog is loving to people naturally and want to please their owners.
Breed only to Improve the Breed
Here at Swampdog Kennels we breed only to improve the breed. A dog's temperment is extremely important in their ability to fit into society. We breed for temperment and working ability. Socialization is important and we give all of our puppies a good head start. It is recommended for anyone buying a puppy to put it through obedience training and to socialize the puppy with strangers and other dogs.
