Why Weight Pull? Weight pulling is an activity that an owner and his best friend (dog) can enjoy working and competing in together as a team. Weight pull training, when done properly, keeps your dog in a top level physcial condition. A physically fit dog is a healthy one in our opinion and get a proper diet. Anyone who competes and excels in weight pulling ensures that their competing dog's diet is one that will provide all of the nutritional requirements to keep them in top physical condition. The IWPA is an organization that will accept all breeds and mixes, intact or fixed. These dogs are trained to pull with just the encouragement of their "one" handler. No baiting or touching of a dog is allowed during a sanctioned event and any observer can appreciate the desire these dogs have to work for their handler. WEIGHT PULLS Here at Swampdog Kennels we put on around four IWPA sanctioned pulls per pulling season. We look forward to any future competitors joining us for an enjoyable weekend of weight pulling. Family and guests are welcome to any of our IWPA sanctioned pulls on our 5 acre farmette. There is a dirt bike track for kids to ride on, a swingset for the little ones, a pool for cooling off afterwards when it is warm, and food and drinks will be available. All dogs must be on a 4 foot leash or crated at all times. Please be courteous to the competitors and do not distract their dog during a pull. Come and have a great time with us!!!
