1. To be able to use the War room you must set your internet options to accept COOKIES. To ENABLE COOKIES in your internet options go to START>SETTINGS>CONTROL PANEL>INTERNET OPTIONS>PRIVACY and move the slider for internet security to MEDIUM (WindowsME). You can then click on the War room and wait untill the chatsoftware is installed. After install you can enter the War room anytime you like. Also read the CAUTION page.
2. Upon entering you will see your IP adress and it is wise to note this on a piece of paper for future use.
3. When you want to setup your own game you give out this adress to the other pilots who will then decide if they want to join (or not?) and all pilots (including yourself) can copy the adress from the chatscreen by highlighting it with the mouse while pressing the LEFT MOUSE BUTTON at the same time (do not highlight more then just the adress).
4. The adress is saved into Window's memory by pressing CTRL and C (copy) at the same time and it will remain there untill another copy function erases the adress.
5. If you think there are enough pilots for an interesting game you can minimise the Launchpad screen and start EAW the way you usually do, from a desktop icon or from the start bar.
6. when in the main EAW screen you choose the MULTIPLAYER option which will bring you to EAW's online gaming options where you choose 'Internet TCP/IP Connection For Direct Play'.
7. This will bring you to the TCP/IP field where you paste the stored adress by placing your cursor on the field and by pressing CTRL and P at the same time the adress magically appears in the field. Make sure there are no extra spaces or text in front or at the end of the adress!
8. You will then have several options at the bottom of the Multiplayer window. If you are setting up a new game click on NEW which will bring you to the WAITING ROOM where you wait untill all pilots have arrived.
9. When another pilot is HOST and you want to join his game, you have to wait untill the host's game appears in the GAMES window (which may take a bit), When the game shows up you can select JOIN which will also take you to the waiting room.
10. When you select DETAILS in the Multiplayer screen, you can read about the settings which are used in the game (usually FULL REAL) and ESC will take you back to the multiplayer screen.
11. You can select CANCEL if you decide not to enter the game after all (not very likely).
12. Only the host has the LAUNCH option in the WAITING ROOM and he also usually decides what type of game is played. The LAUNCH button is pressed when all pilots are present.
13. When for some reason or other a pilot is not able to join, some pilot may ALT/TAB out of the game temporarily to see what is holding him up or to see if he has a problem. EAW is set to the task bar and can be restarted by clicking in the bar icon. When back in the game it can sometimes happen that either chat can not send anymore which can be reset by pressing CTRL and ALT at the same time. When the WAITING ROOM suddenly gets psychedelic colours, ALT/TAB and reentering the game usually takes care of that.
Remember we are trying to act as pilots, which means we follow the gentleman code of conduct. Allways try to help others out when you think you could help and give everyone a decent chance to join.
