For those of you visiting that are unfamiliar with some of the terms used , I would like to "enlighten" you with the description of certain terms.....

General Meeting:  A general meeting consisted of between 30-90 people, residents and staff of different houses. The person who the "gm" was for, was stood in the front of a room, then confronted by the staff for whatever reason, then they were charged by most of the residents at one time, or in sections....the offender had to stand there at attention and not move with hands at sides and allow people to be merely centimeters from their face, screaming obscenities at them, spitting on them, humiliating them.......

Haircut:  A haircut usually consisted of 3-20 residents in a room either standing or sitting....the offender was told to knock on the door of the room, after entering, the offender is asked do you know why you are standing there ?  After response, the resident in charge usually an expeditor or shingle expeditor would begin screaming at the offender, the others would follow in the order they  were seated or standing......

Corner: The corner was used to segregate "troublemakers" or "acter outers" from the general population as punishment for unruly behavior. Unfortunatley there have been many instances where the corner was used for consecutive days, even months at a time....The "corner people" were guarded "p.o'd" "personal overseers" by other residents that were doing well in the program. It was the other students DUTY to restrain and keep under control the person they were in charge of po'ing. As well, in one of the houses, parsonsfield, the use of jail cells was also instituted.

Night People:    Night people, night woman, night man, night owl....nightwoman guards the womans dorms, night man guards the mens dorms, night owl guards all dorms and the people guarding the dorms...These night owl responsibilities fell upon the students...... If someone escapes "splits" then whoever pulled night person is held responsible.......

Tight Houses:  Tight Houses were basically lockdown....the staff would gather everyone and tear apart the dorms and the entire house , then the house would have general meetings, and sometimes days of nothing but screaming, cleaning and more general meetings. A very abusive time.

The Ring:  The ring is , was and always will be a  vicious misuse of discipline. I personally was in the ring at least ten different times. In the ring, students are pitted against one another with the use of boxing gloves and at times face protection. If the offender is knocked out of the ring, they are pushed back in by the staff and residents making the physical ring the two are fighting in. The ring was used for any number of reasons, Usually to try and control the non conforming when nothing else would work . I personally don't think beating the hell out of someone is going to make them listen any sooner.

I'm pretty sure there will be more terms that need explaining , however I suppose this is a good start....if u have any questions, please ask.......
