Come out of the airport to the roundabout and turn LEFT until you reach traffic lights and turn RIGHT. Follow the signs for Nicosia/Lefkosa motorway and follow all the way through to the outskirts of Nicosia until you see the FOOTBALL STADIUM on your left and the TV company ANT 1 on your right, turn LEFT here at the STROVOLOS sign and turn LEFT at the roundabout, you will see signs for Kyrenia at this point and along this road. You should have a large store ORPHANIDES on your left as soon as you have turned onto this road. Go STRAIGHT across 3 roundabouts and several sets of traffic lights and you will go up a hill until you reach a T JUNCTION, here you turn RIGHT, follow this road until you come to a roundabout with a large building and an ARMY CAMP on your left, keep to the LEFT HERE a little way up this road you will see the Lanitis/Coca Cola factory on your right and a set of traffic lights, turn LEFT here, follow the road down and you will see the checkpoint in front of you at Ayios Demetios/Kermia. After you have gone through the checkpoint follow the road along until the 2ND ROUNDABOUT, turn LEFT here, follow the road until you come to a dual carraigeway and roundabout and turn RIGHT here until you get to the large roundabout with the MEMORIAL STATUES on and turn LEFT. Follow this road over the mountains and this will lead you into Kyrenia/Girne.
The checkpoint is open 24/7 as is the insurance people that you will have to purchase insurance from, this will cost you £15 = 3 days, £20 = 1 month, £25 = 3 months. Dont forget to have your driving license with you as well, you will be denied entry without it along with insurance, even though the car maybe insured in the south it does not cover it in the north. Dont forget when you come back be careful what you have bought, ie. NO ciggies, NO alcohol these are the big no no's and the GC's will confiscate anything that they think you shouldnt have purchased like clothing etc.
Well that's about it, if you need any more info just ask, always glad to oblige.
