Versus

What is it about?
There are 666 portals to the 'other side' and, in the Forest of Ressurection', is the 444th. Prisoner KSC2-303 and another inmate escaped from prison and are to meet a group of men that will take them away. When it becomes clear that the men have kidnapped a girl and the price of KSC2-303's freedom is her death, and argument breaks out and one of the gang members is killed.
When the dead man comes back to life as a zombie and starts to attempt killing his former friends, things get messy. KSC2-303 escapes into the forest with the girl. it soon becomes apparent that the forest has been a dumping ground for dead bodies for the gang who are now after KSC2-303 and the girl. of course these bodies come back to life, sort of, as zombies out to kill anyone that stands in their way.
So far it's easy to follow and has some amazing fights. Then 'He' arrives. The man behind the whole plan, and who is obviously very evil. he wants the girl and KSC2-303 so he can open the 444th portal. How? Well he needs her blood and him to be a sacrafice. The gang's leader (who I think is insane) decides he is going to take charge and invites some fighting friends along to help him kill the very evil 'Him'. This doesnt work out and he kills almost all of them, and quickly turns them all into immortal super-zombies.
Throughout this the girl and KSC2-303 wander around the forest. They come across some recently deceased people and he takes one of their clothes to get out of the prisoner uniform. The girl reveals to him that it his destiny to fight the evil guy, who they have only had a glimpse of so far, but he doesnt really believe her.
When the evil guy catches up with KSC2-303 and the girl, he explains why he needs them both and asks KSC2-303 to join him instead of fight him. It becomes clear that this scenario has happened before, 500 years ago, and some how KSC2-303 stopped the evil guy killing the girl. After waiting such a long time for them both to reincarnate again, the evil guy is more determined than ever. Ii becomes clear that in the past KSC2-303 was a "man of Justice", but this time it went wrong and he changed. Remember, he was in prison......which we eventually find out was for several murders! The evil guy tries to convinve KSC2-303 to join him on the drak side so they can rule the world together.
KSC2-303 is not convinced and is killed. It is at this point we find out what happened 500 years ago. An amzaing a beautiful scene follows, which I cannot even begin to describe. But basically KSC2-303 and the girl are togther, in love. To stop the evil guy from inevitably using the girls blood to become all powerful and evil, KSC2-303 kills her himself and is then subsequently killed by the evil guy.
KSC2-303 is found by the girl and she uses her blood to resurrect him. The girl is taken, by the gang, to the evil guy who cuts her and shouts to the forest to make him all powerful. When nothing happens he works out she has already used her blood to resurrect KSC2-303 he at first seems outraged. But then he slowly reveals it was his plan all along. He tells the girl that it is her blood he needs, but KSC2-303's resurrected blood.
At this point KSC2-303 returns and in the next 10 minutes kills all of the super-zombie gang. The inevitable fight between KSC2-303 and the evil guy finally happens, and is just spectactular. The evil guy does well and and beats KSC2-303 pretty bad in a fairly long fight sequence. As he brings his sword down to kill KSC2-303, he is surprised by KSC2-303's sudden and enlightened strength and then gets absolutely whooped by KSC2-303.
After this fight, we skip 99 years in the future where it is all happening again. But this time the roles seemed to have changed a lot. KSC2-303 is now the evil one and is holding the girl hostage, despite her screams that its supposed to be him that is good. It is unlcear if the former evil guy is actually good, because they both seem to want the evil power. As they begin to fight the films ends.
Look out for:
- Tak always looks gorgeous throughout the whole film, but in the revealing scence of what happened 500 years ago, he is just beautiful!!
- One of the gang member known as the "Runt". He seems to be a new member of the gang and isn't particularly liked by them. He seems to play no obvious importance in the film, but is the only one not to be turned into a zombie. It is never shown what happens to him though.
- The odd relationship between the crazy leader of the gang and the one with cool hair and glasses. A overly-loving embrace shows sparks and the leader is visibly upset and angry at this guy death. See what I mean:
Ignore:
- There are two 'police men' in this film too. They appear in the story crawling out of a wrecked car......these are who Ksc2-303 and the other prisoner escaped from. They are in the film here and there but seem to have no point, and frankly it would be better without them. They are boring and useless!
- The fight between KSC2-303 and the zombie 'bug' version of the crazy gang leader. Once the crazy leader is resurrected he becomes even more insane and adopts an insect-like behaviour. His character in this way is just stupid and really spoils the film for me.
