Sea Hold was formed many years ago by settlers from both the Beolen Realm and from the northern Great Realm of Druakar. Settlers from Beolen sought to expand their empire into more fertile lands, and the people of Druakar settled down the coastline from their great city of Nyv in a great period of exploration for additional resources and further expansion of their realms.

Another feature of Sea Hold are the buccaneers of the Goeldin Sea, who call themselves the Sea Wolves grew strong and wealthy when Druakar was at the height of its power while the eyes of the Druakaran King and his leaders were turned eastward towards prospective lands for their growing empire. The very fact that the Druakaran leaders' eyes were blind to the west allowed the raiders to be ignored and grow in power ignored. Sailing unchecked from their island and mainland strongholds, these raiders were the scourge of the coasts from Nyv to the lands of the south, and even beyond into the Azurite Sea for a time.

When Druakar turned back from imperial expansion, her navy began to rebuild in order to check the threat of the Sea Wolves. Their numbers and strength had become so great, however, that the Druakaran fleet, even with the aid of a small squadron of Beolen warships, could at best deliver a sharp check to them and continue even unto the present day to battle them and attempt to root them from their strongholds and cliffside ports along the western edges of Sea Hold and several smaller islands which are too small to be noted on several of the coastal and regional maps but do exist and serve as bases of operation for the Wolves.

The current ruler Frothwind Delverson is believed to be in leagues with the Sea Wolves in some fashion or another, however these claims are largely unsubstantiated. Delverson's title of Prince comes not from any actual birth into nobility, but rather is a title that he has appointed to himself, Prince of the Goeldin Coast.
