The Epsom Salt Bath
Your betta is constipated. You have tried fasting him, feeding him peas and in spite of all of your efforts, he is still constipated. In this instance you may want to try putting your betta through an Epsom Salt Bath. Many have used this method as a means of treating constipation with much success. Do keep in mind that this can be a stressful experience for your betta, however, being in a continuous state of constipation is not doing him any good either. Sometimes, the Epsom Salt Bath is a neccessary step that we must take in an effort to bring our betta the "relief" he needs.
The instructions are very simple:
Use One Gallon of pretreated water adding 1 Tablespoon of Epsom Salt. As a help in keeping the stress levels down, make sure the bath water is the same temperature as the tank water. Add your betta. Watching him closely, allow him to swim in the bath for 15 to 30 minutes "or" until he begins to show signs of undue stress "or" the result you are hoping for occurs in that your betta relives himself.
Return your betta back into his home.
Again, this can be a stressful treatment for your betta, the plus is that it can be very effective in getting your betta to relieve himself if he/she is constipated. Some bettas respond better than others.
