Our Resident & Wild Animals

Dick & Daisy Ducks

May 2007

(2 Mallard ducks that have decided to come and live at The Croft, flying in everyday tapping on the windows of the lounge for breakfast, lunch & tea, then on for a paddle in the heart shaped pond. They come to call and hopefully we will have a lot of ducklings to live in our new wildlife garden which is currently being designed and organised.)

11 Easter Ducklings Hatched

April 2007

The ducklings were found wandering along without mother.

Ellee

(Our Pet dog)

Ellee is now 5 years of age

 Birthday July 19th

We found her at the Blue Cross centre in Bickleigh, where she had been abandoned by someone near or around Torquay (Their loss- shes safe and beautiful and we treasure her!)

She is a happy go lucky very friendly Border Collie.

(Horseshoe Bats)

Have a regular hanging out point at the back of the house near the goatshed

Badger

(The Cat)

Badger appeared here 9th April 2008 he is about 10 months of age and a really friendly cat - we are naming him Badger as we only caught a glimpse of his rear end one evening and thought it was a badger!

Now we know he is a super friendly feline with a distinct darker tail.

Mr Tibbs

(The Cat)

We dont know quite what age Mr Tibbs may be, he has lived at The Croft for many years with David & Ian.

He usually tended to stay around the back of the building but of late has ventured around to the front where he can be often seen up on the table relaxing and taking the sun.

He and Ellee often now walk alongside each other when its time for Ellees walk around the gardens they have accepted one another and live quite happily alongside each other.

------------------------------------------

* Sadly Mr Tibbs died at the age of 14years 4 months on Saturday 24th November 2007.

He will be missed by us all.

'Harry' Rabbit

Mr Rabbit as we all call him is only 3 months old he first appeared in July 2006 where he would help himself to the flowers in the pots at the end of the lawn.

He has an injury which has him having to hop around on three legs the front leg has been injured so badly that he had no muscle power there, and he would hold it a little higher so that he could hop and run about.

Our local vet from Chudleigh has been chosen as he MR BALDWIN is a very kind vet and has a heartfelt desire to help us help Mr Rabbit.

He is currently undergoing more treatment and so to keep him more safe from the predators , even his own family then we have made up him very own hutch its huge and pictures will shortly follow.

He will be let out to run free all day in the grounds then at night brought in for safety.

Thank you to all who are helping with his recovery and much appreciation.

He has made a full recovery and now his eyes are bright and he hops around showing himself off - He comes to call and will kiss on the nose before he accepts a trat like a bit of alpen!, a very remarkable young wild rabbit indeed

Harry Rabbit sadly died Boxing Day 2006 when he wandered out onto main road we will miss him and the tricks he would do for all the guests

A very special rabbit indeed!

Barney The Owl

(Still in tree house - seen but no picture as yet)

New arrivals:

A Badger & Fox (Vixen)

None of the animals are threatened as they are all around differnt times of the day and night.
