I woke up the next morning in a state of denial. I refused to think about what had happened the evening before. It was like a bad dream. I developed a rash all over my back, chest and face. My mom took me to see the doctor and I remember he asked her if I had had any x-rays lately. I started having terrible nightmares. Several weeks went by before I even remembered going out to take pictures of the stars that night. When I asked my mom where the film was, she said that she had had it processed and that none of the pictures had turned out. Some time later, as I was going through a drawer of pictures, I ran across the negatives from that night. On them were clearly the images of the disks. At the moment I saw them, a flood of memories came crashing down on me. I began to recall the events of that night. I had a friend who was a member of the Camrose Camera Club. The next day at school, I told him my story and gave him the negatives. I thought he could enlarge them and print pictures of the disks. He took the negatives, printed them, and brought them back to me at school. He was very excited and showed them around. He told a lot people what had happened to me. The news was all over school. Some of my friends believed me, but, by far, most thought I was crazy. All the jokes, ridicule and laughter made me shut right up about the whole experience. Some time after that, two men in black suits came to the school. They stopped me just outside the door as I was leaving at lunchtime. They said they were with the Camrose Booster, a local newspaper. They said they believed my story and wanted to run my pictures in the newspaper. I gave them the enlargements, but they said they needed the negatives, too, in order to print them in the paper. They convinced me to give them the envelope with the prints and the negatives and promised to return them in a couple of days. I waited for my story to appear in the paper, along with all the other stories about UFO’s that had been running all that year. There had been many reports of UFO’s around New Norway. One story was about landing marks near Duhamel: | “Camrose, Alberta, Canada
UFO Report - August 8, 1967
On August 8, 1967, a (deleted) reported the finding of a number of circular impressions in a pasture in the vicinity of the town of Camrose, Alberta. An investigation was conducted by an officer from Canadian Forces Base, Edmonton, in the company of Dr. G.H. Jones, of the Defense Research Board Experimental Station at Suffield.
All the marks exhibited the same general appearance; a ring six inches in width, with diameter varying from slightly over 31 feet to 36 feet. No evidence of heat was evident, but a definite impression in the ground, which was soft from recent rains, indicated distinct pressure. Some slight evidence of movement in a radial manner along the marks was visible in that the grass has been pressed down in a definite direction.
No physical evidence that would lead to the conclusion of deliberate interference or involvement of any person was found, nor was there any trace of chemical or radioactivity in the area.” | One of the articles showed pictures of a UFO that hovered over the seed cleaning plant in Camrose. However, my story never appeared. I called the paper and they said that no one had been sent out talk to me. They said if I still had some photos they would be glad to hear my story and run the pictures. At the time, I thought that this was a trick to get the remaining copies. I was still thinking that the paper was responsible for taking my negatives and photos. I told them I didn’t have any more pictures and that I wanted them to return my negatives. They again denied having them. It wasn’t until later that I realized that it might have been someone else who took the negatives from me. I had started to read all the information I could on UFO’s and I had read about strange men in black suits who visited people who had witnessed UFOs The Men in Black? I picked up a book called the Flying Saucers and the Three Men by Albert K. Bender" . After reading it, I thought that maybe the aliens had come to get the pictures. The men in the book had tried to contact the aliens, so, one noon hour at school, I tried to make contact. I lay down in a sand pit and tried contact the aliens through mental telepathy. When I started seeing crystal-clear words forming in my mind, spelling out my name, I freaked out! One of my teachers found me in a state of hysteria and snapped me back to reality. Now the rumor began that I was on drugs. I let things die down and did not talk about it anymore except with a few close friends Note: I now believe that it was men from some Government or Air Force department, not aliens, who confiscated my negatives. Back in 1967-68 there was an unusual amount of military activity in the area. I can remember a lot of jeeps and military trucks just driving around. One day, a jeep pulled up at the end of our driveway. Men in uniform with binoculars watched me for ten to fifteen minutes as I hung out in the front yard. This disturbed me and I went into the house. They drove off shortly after. Then there were all the jets that would fly just over the treetops. They buzzed the farm on several occasions. I also saw six, big, black helicopters with two sets of blades (Chinooks?) flying over the same field where I had photographed the UFOs. We were told that there was a training exercise going on. However, a training exercise does not last two years, and take place over a populated farming area. I suppose that it is possible that the UFOs I photographed were some kind of top-secret, military craft that were part of the so-called “training exercises.” If so, why were they not tested at the nearby Cold Lake Base where there are hundreds of square miles of unpopulated testing grounds? |
