New to AR-15s?, by Forest.  Helps the new shooter select the AR-15 that is right for them, select appropriate (and needed) equipment, and what gear they should avoid for now.  Includes a purchasing checklist.
 
How to get into High-Power Shooter, by David Horvath. A comprehensive article instructing the beginer on how to get into High-Power (DCM & NRA) competition, what to expect, terminology, required equipment, tips and references. 
 
Problems with 5.56? Where?, by Chad Anderson.  This is actually two articles.  The first one (where the link takes you) is a discussion of the perfomance of 5.56x45 as reported in Black Hawk Down and other books about military events involving the M16 or 5.56x45mm.  A sub-article (link from Chad's commentary) contains references in Black Hawk Down to various passages of the book where 5.56 did the job and other rounds didn't. 
 
Why Your Department Needs The Patrol Rifle, (Article in .PDF format - Site Members only) by James Yeager (SE Director of OPS, former LEO/SWAT, Author, SWAT magazine contributer).  This well thought out article makes the argument why law enforcement officers need patrol rifles (e.g. .223 carbines).  It covers real-life situations when such a tool would have made a difference; and why the carbine is better suited for the average officer than the shotgun.

.223 Performance vs Handgun Calibers, (Article in .PDF format - Site Members only) by the Gunsite Training Staff.  Some very nice research and experimentation done by Gunsite to see how the different rounds perform against drywall.  To compare penetration capabilities in case YOU MISS.  Will your defensive round exit the house?
 
CLP Information, By Joe Hawkins.  An article describing CLP, what it is, who makes it, who uses it, and the differences between the brands.  A very good overview on this important product.
 
The Serious AR, (Article in .PDF format - Site Members only) By Forest.  An article on selecting (or upgrading) rifles for reliable operation, a rifle you can depend on with your life.
 
Handloading for the AR, By Eric Hay.  While this site does not recommend handloading, there are many people who engage in this activity.  Handloading is an economical way to develop VERY accurate loads for varmint hunting or target shooting.  This articles covers the basics on finding the load for your rifle and the preferred load of the author. 
 
More Tips on Reloading, By the reloaders on AR15-L. Information pulled from AR15L posts on suggested powders, primers and brass. 
 
Breaking in your Barrel, By David B. Hovrath.  An article covering the 'Breaking In' procedure (or lack of it) for the various barrel types.  Information from the various barrel vendors and links for more information.
