Why You Should Hide Your Email Address

It is not a requirement to stay a member in this group, but we would like to inform you of how important it is to hide your email address.  First, there are programs out there affectionately called "spider bots".  These bots come to various message boards and group lists and record email addresses that are showing.  The person who sends out the bot then sells the list to spammers who send out disgusting things to YOUR inbox! Another unsavory character you're opening yourself up to are hackers; MSN or Neopets. When they have your email address, they are half way to hacking into your account to take over! You also have stalkers who have no life other than to mess with yours!  Since they have your email address, they can give your email to ANYONE, flooding your email box.  These scum bags can also add you to messenger lists and keep track of you when you're online! EWWWWW!

There's really no reason to have your email address showing in this Group.  If you want someone to contact you, give them your Neomail addy; or better yet, just converse on the boards!  We have just added an "Off Topic" board if you want to chat about something other than Neopets, just keep it clean as we are quick to ban people that break our Rules.

To hide your email address, just go to "Member Tools" at the bottom of the blue bar on your left.  Then click "Check your email settings".  From there uncheck  "Allow other members to see my email address."  It's as simple as that!
