| Mary aka Amoonsinger's Shuttle Collection
|
Boyes-Two of these I just bought today, 12/14/02. The yellow and blue one I just found a source for in town. The red one is one that I bought many years ago for trying to learn to shuttle tat. I pulled it back out a few months ago out of storage. I noticed that the old and new do not look any different from each other. |
Marys' husband bought this for her at an antique shop 12/8/02. Celluloid shuttle shows the top and side view. |
This is just a few of my clovers. I have some more of the blue and pink ones. I like the little shuttles. They are easy to wind and they have the point that I like to use when running around and don't want to have to use a crochet hook. Now at home I usually don't use the point I have the crochet hooks that I do like better as they work quicker, but then I am still slow at tatting. |
These are two shuttles that I got that are the German ones. I bought these recently from Georgia Seitz. |
The shuttle on either side is the Susan Bates shuttles that I bought in the last few months. The middle one on the left is a Boye that I have had for what seems like ages, can't remember just when I bought it. The middle on the right is one that I picked up at a second hand store. It looks very much like the Susan Bates ones except the base is a little thiner. I don't know who made this one. |
I bought all these tatsy's from Georgia Seitz. I put a clover in with them so everyone can see the difference in the size. The tatsy's are big. |
These two little clovers I picked up for just around a $1 (American). Cool deal. Well, after I got them I could tell why they looked almost brand new. They are both very hard to load. The tips are so tight and when tatting with them if you have to wind back after that chain it is almost impossible without putting the work down and using two hands. Still they are quite pretty. |
These are the keybacks that I bought to hold the cut down crochet hooks that my husband did for me. The other keyback is holding my thread cutter. |

| 3 Clover Fluorescent, Plastic. 1 Bottom, Clover Tortoiseshell Plastic. Front and side few filled. The Clovers I buy at Roseground and they're nice to tat with - but because of the point I now and then almost cut my fingers though. |
| 3 Bone Shuttles, 4th may be bone also. Front and side view filled - one with golden beads also. The bone shuttles I inherited from my Aunt so they're old - but I do not know how old - I do not use them a lot and I never take them with me anywhere. Might have one or two more. |
3 Tortoise Shuttles - plastic. Also inherited from my Aunt who died in 1996 so I do not know how old they are but you can still buy them though. I do not use them a lot though. |
| Clover Amber Plastic, English Aero Shuttle with bobbin. And at the bottom a traditional Inox-Prym Shuttle of plastic which I do not like anymore after having tried the Clovers. But the Inox-Prym is the only one I can get locally. The Aero with bobbin I bought years before I learned to tat but my subconsciousness must have decided that I was going to do this sometime. LOL But I never use it. |
| Tatsy Plastic Shuttle. I haven't tried this yet but it is really big - it reminds me of the thing fishermen used for their nets in the earlier days. |
