| Summer Breeze Beaded Doily, by Roger aka Freedman © 7/18/04 http://groups.msn.com/TheSocialShuttle Made with some great beads sent to me by my Friend, Susanne from Denmark. Click Here, for larger shot of the doily in the album. Measures approximately 6" - 15.24 cm, makes nice bud vase doily. Due to the beads, make sure piece sits evenly on the doily so it does not tip over if using a small vase.
Made with 40 small florets in the center and bordered with 8 butterflies. Size #20 Opera, using two shuttles. These beads have the hole through the side not in the center of the beads. The bead are added to a shared picot which has to be a larger picot than normal. Use a gauge to measure them. If making a cardboard gauge, measure across from hole to hole, then double the size. Make the gauge just a scant little bit larger so you can get your hook through them when joining. Make sure you measure the bead and the butterfly to make sure the sizes are the same or not. |

Center Ring does not take much thread to make, if you have some thread on another shuttle you could start the ring with that.

First Round: Floating Rings are made with shuttle 2. (all FR are 4- 4)

Work around using shared picots adding bead as you go to the side and to center ring. 8 ring on side of each Ring and 8 on the center round. Make last chain, tie off and hide ends.
Second Round:

Repeat around from * joining last ch to first ring made. Tie cut and hide ends.
Third Round: Floating rings are made with shuttle 2, you will be using a lot more thread with Shuttle two. So you may have to tie off somewhere and refill Shuttle Two.
Add Bead to first large picot on any ring of the previous round. Join new thread onto that picot so your starting at the top of the butterfly.
*Ch 4ds FR 4ds FR 4ds FR 4ds FR 4ds FR 4ds FR 4ds Join with sh2 to the side picot of the ring just under the butterfly.
Ch 4ds Join to the side picot to the free picot of the next ring over, by the little flower.
Ch 4ds - 4ds FR 4ds - 4ds Join to the picot of the next ring over by the little flower.
Ch 4ds join to the side picot of the next ring where the next butterfly will go.
Ch Make next long chain same as the first * with 6 FR on it. Add butterfly to the large picot and join chain to it at top.
Ch Make next side of long chain as before and join to the side picot just under the butterfly, this will make the heart shape. Continue around from *.
Last long chain is joined to the first one, tie off and you can hide the thread down into the butterfly using a small thin needle.
