The Unicorn Species

Although there are many creatures living in the realms, perhaps the most beguiling and numerous are the unicorn. Far from horses with a horn, they are proud warriors, noble leaders, and benevolent healers. Blessed by the celestials, they are known by other creatures as the favoured ones, forever dancing under the caring eyes of Helios and Amaris.
There are several species of Unicorn as follow.

Grassland Unicorn
This is the most common species of unicorn in the realms. They are very equine like in appearence, though they are slenderly built with long legs build for running. They also have beards on their chins, feathering around their fetlocks, small tufts on the tips of their ears, and tasseled tails (like a lion's). And of course, not forgetting the singular spiralled horns that grow from their foreheads, and their cloven hooves. They come in a wide variety of colours and markings. In fact, they come in every colour under the sun, though we do ask that you try and refrain from characters that are entirely black and/or white, and make sure that there is so sort of colour scheme (for example, a unicorn with all the colours of the rainbow just wouldn't exist). If you're unsure about a character, please contact a manager before introducing it.

Mountain Unicorn
Similar to Grassland unicorns in appearance - but much larger and heavier, with shaggier coats, and shorter hair which is rough, as opposed to silky. This breed mixes freely with the other types of unicorn, not neccesarily always living in the mountains. In colouration, They are more restricted to greys, blues and even blacks, but the more exotic colours do occur due to their heritage.

Woodland Unicorn
These are more deer like in appearance, smaller than their grassland cousins and less varied in colour. Their manes, beards and fetlock feathering is quite heavy, and their tails are almost full and bushy (The base of the tail is still visible). Their ears are very large in comparison with their heads, which are tapered with deer-like noses. Their horns are shaped like branches, twisted and widely varying in shape. Some are even known to grow one smaller horn beneath the main skewer. The horns of the males are bigger, and during the spring, their antlers grow brittle and snap off, growing back within 2 weeks. (PLEASE NOTE, the shedding process occurs ONLY with the males). They live in the forest of Nardinel and do not often emerge from there. Woodland unicorns tend to be restricted to more conservative colours and deer-like markings. Their foals look very similar until a certain age, whilst very young they are all spotted like a deer's fawn. Browns, yellows and occasionally greys and greens are the most common. Blacks, whites and greys also occur. The horns and hooves are always ivory.
