The life of a novice in the White Tower is certainly a hard one. When novices reach a certain level, however, they are tested to become Accepted. Typically this takes five to ten years spent in novice white. Once a woman has reached the level of Accepted she learns what discipline truly is.

The testing process to reach the level of Accepted requires the candidate to face her fears - of the past, the present, and the future. Those who refuse to take the test three times are put out of the Tower. Some who fail the test never return from the ter'angreal used in the testing.

Once a woman has proven herself ready to become an Accepted, she has earned a greater degree of freedom. Accepted do not wear the plain white of novices - instead they wear white dresses banded at the hem and cuffs with seven colors representing the seven Ajahs.

Accepted are also allowed a greater degree of freedom in their studies. While novices are forced to learn certain things, Accepted have a free reign to study and learn about those topics which interest them most. With these newfound freedoms come increased responsibilities; Accepted often aid in the education of novices.

It takes a larger transgression for an Accepted to be sent to the Mistress of Novices. Perhaps accordingly, their visits there also tend to be more painful. By the time a young woman has reached the level of Accepted, they should know enough not to be sent to the Mistress of Novices.

An Accepted who rises above herself will learn the hard way that she is still a long step below Aes Sedai. Accepted are awarded the Great Serpent ring, which they must wear on the third finger of their right hand. When an Accepted has progressed and become a full Aes Sedai, then she can choose on what finger she will wear her ring.

The life of an Accepted is hard. To make it to this level, though, requires much work and dedication. These women are just one step away from achieving the status of Aes Sedai. It is a long step, but certainly worth the discipline and effort it takes to reach it.

The Accepted Rules

The Accepted Rules are much the same as the Novices but they have a little more freedom.  They have rooms to theirselves.  They can stay out on the grounds until after dark but must be back in by the second bell after dinner (generally 9 p.m.).  They can go into the City but are not allowed to leave the city.  Men can be in their rooms.  There is a practice field outside of the city that the Accepted are allowed to go to.  But there is a ter'angreal that leads to it.  They can teach classes to Novices.  Accepted are to wear the Great Serpent Ring on their third finger on their left hands.

Contact the Sitter of the Ajah that you are Aspiring to, to become an Aes Sedai.  When it is deemed you are ready, you will be tested and then raised.
