| Please view current Show Schedule. Virtual African Violet Show Rules
1. Entries are open to Violet Voice members only. 2. Entry deadline of July 3, 2006 at midnight Mountain time will be absolutely adhered to....date of entry will be determined by date of email, containing entry photos. 2. The show will be Peoples' Choice judged. Somewhere on the page, a poll will be placed, where viewers will choose one plant/entry per section as their choice for the best exhibit in that Class. The horticulture exhibit with the most votes will also win Best In Show. 3. While this show is not to be judged by 'official' av judges, all who cast their votes are encouraged to read the judging guidelines as outlined on the AVSA web site. Remember: Size of the plant is not considered under merit judging. If two plants have the same degree of perfection, both would receive the same award. In judging a show, judges should look for beauty, not flaws. In effect, each plant is judged against itself, or how close to perfection each plant is. This should be an encouragement to those hesitant about their 'small' , or 'less-than-perfect', plants. 4. All plants in the Horticultural Division must have been in the possession of the exhibitor for three months prior to the show. 5. All plants in the Horticultural Division must be blooming, except where noted. 6. Except where noted, all plants in the Horticultural Division must be named varieties, accompanied by correct and complete name. 7. There is a limit of three entries in each class per member in the horticulture divisions, and NO limit of entries per member per class in the design divisions. 8. Entries in the Horticultural classes consist of: one photo of the entire plant, taken on a black/very dark plain background from directly above the plant. Flash lighting is not recommended but is accepted. Please keep distractions to an absolute minimum. The photos should not exceed 300 kb. 9. Design class entries should contain one photo: taken from from the front of the design. Subtitles defining the exhibitor's interpretation of the class title may be provided. The class title may be incorporated within the design (such as on a piece of sheet music) and judged as part of the entry. As necessary for background or draping support, a cardboard box cut to proper dimentions may be used while photographing the arrangement. 10. All entries will be sent via an entry form. 11. Any entry not meeting all of the above requirements will be 'for display only'--but will be included in the photo show. Entries due prior midnight July 3rd 2006. Voting Begins when announced on The VioletVoice... a closing date for voting will be announced as well. Announcements and all show photos and entries may be seen on, or linked from, The Violet Voice at http://groups.msn.com/TheVioletVoice
