The Seven Dimesions of Wellness
These seven dimensions are of upmost importance for all us in achieving an overall better life. An overall better life is what we all are striving for. Look over these dimensions and discover where you could make any changes in your own life
#1 Spiritual
#2 Emotional
#3 Physical
#4 Intellectual
#5 Social
#6 Occupational
#7 Environmental
#1 Spiritual: Spiritual wellness can be a number of different things to different people. For some this will account for religion in their lives. For others this can be about their own spirit, how they interpret their beliefs overall, or the depth of ones soul.
#2 Emotional: Emotional wellness is a major component to all of our lives, and as such needs to be a major focus for all of us. We need to feel good about ourselves, our decisions, and our attitudes. If you do not feel good about you, that will reflect and impact how you allow others to treat you. If you feel good you will discover that you invite more good into your life. There are many things you can do to better your emotional wellness, which in turn will create a more confident, secure, content, joyous you.
#3 Physical: Physical wellness is just that, being physically well. This is an area of our lives too many of us take for granted. As far as I am concerned I do not believe there is a weight attatched to this form of wellness. All different shapes and sizes can be physically well. The question to ask yourself in relation to this dimension is; "How do you feel physically?"
#4 Intellectual: Intelluctual wellness refers to the wellness of our brains, which as we all know is a major part of our functioning. You can feel good in mind by doing several things, read more, hypothesize more, relax more, learn more, and so on.
#5 Social: Social wellness refers to our overall social lives. How we interact with others is extremelly important in all areas of our very social lives. This does not mean you need a certain number of people to be active in your life. What it does mean is that we all need a certain number of significant people in our lives. For each person this number will vary.
#6 Occupational: Occupational wellness is something we all yearn for. Many of us are lucky enough to say we are happy with what we do. Whatever it is we spend our days doing we need to feel good about it. I realize this is not something many of us have a whole lot of control over this day and age. However, we can learn to make the best out of anything we encounter. We need to feel good about what we accomplish in our lives. Be proud of whatever you do, whether the hat you wear is parent, business person, service worker, etc.
#7 Environmental: Environmental wellness in this case refers to the world around us. What we surround ourselves with is as important as as any of the other dimensions. This is our overall atmosphere of our lives.
Take care of all the dimensions of wellness in your life !
