| HOW TO MAKE HUMMINGBIRD NECTAR
4 parts water, 1 part sugar (1/2 gallon of nectar = 8 cups water, 2 cups sugar) NOTE: Do not substitute sugar with honey, and a weaker solution is better than a stronger one.
Bring water to boil, stir in sugar, and boil for 2-3 minutes to purify the solution. Do not over boil. Doing so will remove too much water from the solution.
Let cool before placing it in you feeder.
Store remainder in refrigerator.
You should never add red dye or food coloring to your nectar mix because it could make hummers very sick and can even kill them! You should clean your feeder every 2-3 days and replace the necter, especially in warm weather due to growth of bacteria.
