Like the discipline of condensing thoughts?

Welcome TO
The Haiku Niche!

Thoughts distilled, condensed
images in syllables
dispense grace and light.
                                 Lady Dru

Haiku is Japanese originally. In English-speaking countries, we write it in three lines. The first line is 5 syllables, the second 7, and the last one 5 again. Haiku is always about natural images.

Senryu, which has the same syllable pattern, deals with emotions and events instead.

There is a third form that's called Tanka. It's 5 lines long. The first 3 lines are like Haiku, but there are 2 more 7 syllable lines at the end.
