Just when there a saffron city Johnny trips over a clefairy and falls. A female trainer with pink hair named Whitney runs towards him asking or something happened. She directly noticed it's Johnny. Teo, Johnny and Withney used to be in the same class so they know each other. Withney directly asks how much badges Teo already has. So Teo tells her hes of to win his third badge here in the gym. She says she already has one badge that she won from a crazy lieutenant in a gym in vermilion city, where she started her journey. She got a miltank from the moo-moo farm and so she decided to start a journey to become a gym leader. All three of them want to enter the gym but then they see a completely destroyed building. A man tells them it was destroyed by a girl and that there going to put a new gym there. He says it where those damn psychic people, they can't do anything good. The man gets a punch in the face directly after saying that. Teo says that he did it because he was insulting him, Johnny suddenly remembers that Teo is psychic. Teo says that the building that was there belonged to his uncle. But he hasn't heard about him for years. So they decide to find his uncle, cousin and aunt. They ask directions and they arrive at a house with a man inside: his uncle! Teo asks what happened and his uncle says Sabrina became mad and destroyed their entire house and she decided to put a gym there. She's now somewhere else training her abra. After finding out what happened they head for the gym and they challenge the gym leader named Anthony. Teo goes first and sends out wartortle, he sends out hitmonchan. The hitmonchan uses mega punch but wartortle uses counter, the hitmonchan faints directly. His second pokémon is a machamp. After a few rapid spins and bubblebeams Teo wins and gets the badge. Johnny's turn, he send sens out charmeleon and Antony sends out a hitmonlee. The hitmonlee uses high jump kick, charmeleon ducks. hitmonlee crashes. he gets back up and tries again. charmeleon ducks. after doing this a couple of times hitmonlee faints. his second pokémon is primeape. He uses double kick. Charmeleon faints. Johnny sends out pikachu. Pikachu uses a thundershock and the primeape becomes paralyzed. He can't use any attack and the leader gives up. 's turn. she sends out her clefairy and Antony sends out tyrogue. Clefairy uses metronome and it becomes scream, after screaming for a while he gets a mega punch from tyrogue and faints. Whitney sends out miltank and miltank uses rollout and beats tyrogue. Antony sends out a machop who get beaten by miltank in an instant. Whitney gets the badge and Johnny start screaming that it's unfair that she gets to fight against such easy pokémon. Teo gets a focus band from Antony because he had to fight his strongest pokémon. They leave the gym. A trainer runs by being chased by a gastly. Teo takes one of his pokémon without knowing which one it is and send it out. It's ... metapod. The gastly sees metapod and uses night shade, The metapod breaks open and a butterfree comes out. Teo orders it to use tackle but he goes right trough it. Then Teo lets butterfree use sleep powder and the gastly falls asleep. Teo wants to use a fast ball but Johnny trows a pokéball first and he catches gastly. After getting lost a couple of times they finally arrive at Celadon city.
