| Interview Questions 1. Give your full name/address/date of birth? Oneil McQuick / P.O BOX 100291, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida / Nov 19
2. Name and describe the community where you first grew up?
I grew up at Up Park Camp. It was a military base camp, my Dad was a Soldier.
3. Did you have a typical family e.g. Mother and Father/a brother and sister?
Yes! I grew up with a mother, father, three sisters and one brother.
4. Where were you educated up to young adult stage?
I went to Webster Memorial Basic school, then to Mico Practicing All Age school and then to Kingston College High School.
5. When and how did you develop an interest in computers?
When it was first spread abroad through the local media. I wanted to do it in high school but my parents, teachers and even peers discouraged me, because it didn’t look promising then. I even asked for a computer back then, but my parents didn’t want to buy one. Little did we all know how impacting all this would become. Not only that, but if I had gone into the computer field, instead of business, I would have gone straight to the University rather than having to do two years requirement of pre-tertiary studies. It was an incentive for students to try the course in high school.
6. You obviously have a strong religious interest, how did you become involved in the church?
I grew up going to different churches every now and then. I felt the pull of the Lord as early as age 12. I resisted it because I was then afraid of being a Christian in school. At the end of high school it was impressed upon me again, as if to say “you’re now out of school, what now.” I then surrendered and prayed at my bedside to God about choosing Christianity and for a church to attend. All of a sudden, one day Elder Shaw, well Mr. Shaw before then, approached me about going to church. I had no idea this man was a ‘Church man’ much more an Elder. All I knew he was a very kind person to the family who always made sure we had fruit cakes every December and pastries throughout the year. Anyway, I started going to Emmanuel Apostolic Church with him. After a few months I felt like I was getting too “churchy;” because I wasn’t really quite a decent sinner. In fact, one Sunday I felt the pull of God to be baptized and kept putting it off and ‘that’ Bishop Thomas kept preaching it (good gesture). The next Saturday I was coming home from Half Way Three, planning to go to a provocative Beach Party the next day (Sunday): which would have avoided church too. Lo and behold this young boy about the age of 13 came on the bus and started preaching salvation and hell. I was so gripped and afraid I thought to myself, “I better go to church tomorrow and get baptized.” That’s what I did and from then the Lord has had me growing in grace. The person that told me about the beach party, a hang out buddy at the Y.M.C.A, is now a DJ; I hear he calls himself, “Mad Andrew.” While fortunately for me, I’m a sinner saved by grace!
7. How did you reach to the point of marrying technology and the church ministry?
I wouldn’t say the church ministry is married to technology or vice versa, but simply put, “the earth is the Lord and the fullness thereof and they that dwell therein.” It’s only a matter of time for us, born again believers, to take over everything; even the so-called bad. In fact, if one is a student of bible prophecy, it speaks of the believers spreading abroad in the broken pieces of the 4 kingdoms (world) that Jesus Christ came and shattered! Christ’s kingdom is a Kingdom without walls and boundaries, so it’s everywhere and anywhere and not even the gates of hell can stop it! The full take over will be realized when our Prince (Jesus) return!
8. Was there any opposition to your use of the Internet from religious people?
Yes, myself! I thought the internet was solely wicked, evil and the mark of the beast. This in a sense will be used greatly to effect that. Nevertheless, God controls all things and if he could have used Nebuchadnezzar to dominate the whole world and then put him down, he sure enough is the one who allows all evil; but his elect will always escape and shine through as seen with Israel. I am still not fond of the use of the internet, because of what it’s going to be used to do … Much more to say on that but…
9. What influenced your creation of the site www.threeq.com?
The site is really the domain of Liberation International Internet Ministries, a ministry the Lord graced me to start. It’s main intent was to be used to distribute the “TRUTH SERIES,” a set of books geared to most all the faiths in the world (including “Christians”); carefully defining the truth about salvation. But there was web newsletter, Internet radio, web evangelism, tons of tracts and literature, free online counseling and many more things.
10. How did you shape such deep content as a young man? Who were the supporting people behind the theology of the site?
There is something the Lord facilitates me to use all the time, it’s called grace. In this case, it means “divine enablement.” I’m not a good web master, nor a great writer, neither am I earthly qualified to do the things I do, but the Lord has shown me that he can take anyone and turn them into what he wants them to be. And to tell the truth, he has done some marvelous things to teach me his word, increase my faith and give me the “tongue of the learned.” I can truly say, “The spirit of the Lord is upon me for he hath anointed me to…” (Isa 61:1).
11. Even though the purpose of the site is ministry, there is provision for financial donations. How would you defend yourself against the skeptics of this?
I haven’t received any donations to the site as yet, but I hope to in the future; to help with the costs of intended projects. Reason being, sometimes the workload is so strenuous that one time I didn’t sleep for 3 complete days working before the computers. With such time on this, there is little time to seek wages, but again the Lord has been really good to me. In the bible, whenever there was a called to build for the kingdom of God, the people would give abundantly to the work of the Lord as seen with Moses, King David, Solomon, Josiah and many more. I’m not a ‘money’ person, I don’t even like to handle money. I prefer someone else do that. I would really like to see a barter society, but in a non-equal sense; everybody sharing with everybody and non-having more than the other. My Pastor keeps telling me I need a ‘new mind’ in this respect and in a sense must go out there and make tons of money, “as I’m more than capable;” Nothing wrong with this but…
For the second part, there may be skeptics but I haven’t heard of any; probably because of the age we are living in. The body of Christ has become affluent and in my estimation, ‘money hungry’. Anything that has to do with money is usually well accepted in the church today. In fact, I was at a church meeting of a famous Evangelist and he was laying hands and preaching. At one point he saw that the crowd was down, as he looked through the corner of his eyes, he then shouted “God’s going to give some of you a financial blessing.” The crowd up roared and went into a frenzy to the point that as the word left his mouth, one lady fell over in tongues; while others were skipping around doing the same. Now, people could be financially stressed yes, but more than likely wanting more brought that on too. Life is simple and should be lived that way as seen in the Messiah’s example. It does take money to do certain things, but faith can do all things. As Myles Munroe put it, “Having money at your immediate disposal and gallivanting in wealth is not the blessing; or being rich. The rich are miserable. Being rich is having money when you need it. Riding the bus, then when the occasion comes taking two and three planes. Having no money physically but when the time for a house comes, it’s there.” God wants us to live in peace; “these things the Gentiles seek after.” That’s why I leave the donation up, so when I need it, God will place it on somebody’s heart to give it. Everything thus far has been paid for donation free.
12. You are not only involved in the Internet but you have written a book, ‘The Voice’. What influenced your writing of this book? Please explain the reactions from those who have read it?
The book? It’s really a manuscript; it is not yet completed, hopefully sometime this year. Nevertheless, I place copies online so people can read it because even though the info wasn’t order and there were typos and grammatical errors, the words are still anointed by God and the understanding easy to grasp. I have received several testimony from it, I was also shocked because it wasn’t finished and still isn’t. But many across the globe have downloaded it and again to my surprise, salvation has been the result. Here is one testimony:
“The book is fantastic, I am reading it rather slow so that I can figure everything out and I am praying while reading it so it is helping a lot. There are so many things I wasn't aware of and I am glad I am getting to understand them now. One of the things was the importance of the water baptism... I grew up in a religion that preaches and practices infant baptism-sprinkling water on the infant’s head- and considering that to be enough...there are so many things I have to consider at the moment, but I am glad I have your book She’s an Accountant with a Citi Group and she’s now baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ awaiting the blessed Holy Spirit, after reading the manuscript. Nevertheless, the book is not completed yet, so I must ask that you wait until the published date before going online to get it; not everyone likes skipping over obvious errors.
13. Some would describe you as an entrepreneur, but maybe you would shy away from this and describe yourself in more spiritual terms. However how do you see the Internet and the ministry as career opportunities?
A big no! If I got the phrasing wrong, pardon me. But ministry is not a career and should never be. If one is an entrepreneur then so be it, but using the ministry to advance entrepreneurship is a no no and deals with the issue of motives and the saint’s judgment. As I said, I’m not a money person as long as I’m satisfied – food, clothing, shelter, the basics – I’m okay. If working a job can do that, then so be it. If the issue of spouse and children comes up then I’ll deal with that by God’s grace.
On the other hand, there are things that are ministerial that earn income, but with me that goes right back to the kingdom. There are also some that God has called to be totally to him and his work and therefore, entrepreneurship can be a hindrance. I think I might be leaning to that side, even though I think I’m capable of being an entrepreneur. It boils down to this, “No man can serve two masters.”
14. Would you encourage young Jamaicans to take the Internet more seriously in starting their business and if so how can they start using this medium to market their skills?
Making money online is a bit hyped; it’s really not that easy. It’s really a lot of hard hard work and monetary investments; on your own. Moreover, my philosophy is biblical, “Time and chance happen to them all.” Therefore, why not look to the one who controls time and chance – God. In other words, “Seek ye first the kingdom of heaven and all his righteousness and all things shall be added onto you” (Matt 6:33).
15. What are your future plans for your self and the Internet ministry?
If I live that long (future), to continue to advance the Kingdom of God as he graces me to. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A witness: Hi, how are you? All the best in publishing your book/s on the website and may the Lord continue to add his wisdom and richest blessings so that you will be able to pen and publish and make his name known. I am no stranger: Mary Lewis I saw you in the newspaper. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
