The Clevelander is a landmark in South Beach. This photo of the
entrance belies its real size; it is actually huge. That's Boca Bob
and Dr. Eric at the table in the center, and those are our bikes.
In the town of Davie (a suburb of Ft. Lauderdale), you'll find Shelby and
Ira's, best described as a Seminole-Redneck-Biker bar. The house band rocks
four nights a week, there are six pool tables, and Peggy's behind the bar.
Every Saturday night for the last ten years or so, a cool mix
of classic cars and Harleys have gathered at Happy Days,
a fifties burger joint, complete with doo-wop and great
burgers. This Saturday was the end of all that, as the land
was sold to make way for something more lucrative.
I shot these before dark so I'd have light; it didn't get crowded until after 9:00.
The Blue Fish is a little cafe on the ocean in Ft. Lauderdale, with
great food, a busy bar and live music. Oh, and Harley parking.
The ride from here up or down the coast is scenic and
breezy, with lots of bars and restaurants along the way.
There's a park on Ft. Lauderdale beach called Birch State Park
that has hundreds of raccoons. Here's Debbie feeding 'em grapes.
And here we both are feeding them. They are so accustomed to people, they
will climb right up your leg to get your attention (it works!), but they won't bite.
Every Friday night, scores of motorcycles of all makes gather at
Fuddrucker's on US1 in Ft. Lauderdale for burgers & bike talk.
I actually climbed a tree to get this shot. The night I took these, an ex-cop was
pulled over right across the street, and came out of his truck firing a gun from each
hand. He shot both cops who pulled him over, but they killed him on the spot.
Here's Debbie and me on the Ft. Lauderdale strip,
toward the north end. It's about fifty degrees out.
This was shot at Everglades Holiday Park, a fish camp on the
edge of the Everglades.Debbie's posing on my bike but wishing
she had hers here. She likes the low saddle, but says it's too firm.
I took this pic of Debbie while we were dining al fresco at
Green Street, one of many restaurants in Coconut Grove.

Cruising and looking at Christmas lights with Boca Bob and the lovely Mitzie.
More sidewalk cafe dining on the Fort Lauderdale strip.

Stopping for gas in Hollywood New Year's Eve.
Me on my trusty steed at the Hillsboro Inlet.
