Pray for Aidan's remission! Email Aidan (we'll read to him) |
January 26, 2004 - After 14 months, it is finally time to wrap up Aidan's Journey. It has been a long, hard ride, but worth every minute of it. Our Aidan is back! He's feeling great, looking great, and loving life to the fullest. We are so proud of him!
A big hug and THANKS to every one of you who has supported our little soldier with your words, gifts, and prayers. We firmly believe they helped him tremendously through this ordeal. Please keep him in your prayers, since he'll never be 100% free from this danger.
I will be saving and printing a hard copy of this web site for him, as well as all your emails and letters. I know he'll probably never remember all that he had to endure, but our hope is that with age he will grow to understand just how much he is loved.
Please feel free to keep in touch with us, and we will do the same. Take care, and God Bless.
December 19, 2003 - We just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Aidan is feeling like a million bucks these days. He is very excited about Santa's visit too. This Christmas break we are planning on hanging out together having fun (movies, video games, reading books together, etc.). Aidan is really into having books read to him, especially Dr. Seuss books. He still loves playing with his toy swords and shields, making capes out of his blankets, tromping around in his big rubber boots. He pretends to be Bilbo Baggins from "The Hobbit" book/video game.
Everyone else is fine. Carrie is going in for day surgery on Tuesday to have a small mole removed. It's nothing serious, more of a precautionary measure. She's not too scared about it, and she knows she will get pampered to no end for a few days afterwards. :-)
Have a fun and safe holiday!
November 12, 2003 - Aidan had a final review with M.D. Anderson to check the radiation site. Everything looked fine to them, and we will go back in 6 months. Also, he started private speech therapy with the Katy school district today to help him pronounce his words a bit better. His speech screening exams were borderline, but we wanted to get him enrolled just to give him a little nudge towards improved speech clarity.
November 4, 2003 - AIDAN'S FINAL SCANS ARE ALL CLEAR!! He is officially done with the treatment phase and is now on his recovery path. Thank you for all your prayers and support.
October 31, 2003 - Happy Halloween to anyone who is still reading this page (you know who you are). Aidan is getting his final set of scans today, and we will have the results next week. We are looking forward to taking him out for Trick-or-Treating tonight in the neighborhood. I will have some pictures probably. Have a great weekend everyone!
October 27, 2003 - The joys of washing Aidan's hair are once again here! It's very short, but it's definitely there. I'll try to post a new picture soon. Final scans are on Halloween; please pray for not-so-spooky results. By the way, Aidan is dressing as the puppy "Blue" from the TV show Blue's Clues for Halloween (don't tell him Blue is a girl...).
October 22, 2003 - I promised myself I would stop apologizing for taking so long to update the site. The plain truth is that not a lot is going on anymore specific to "Aidan's Journey." (I'm not complaining, mind you) My plan is to make a paper copy of this site and put it into a scrapbook for Aidan, including all the email he's received, pictures, letters, etc. over the past 11 months. So, I may "stick a fork in the site" and retire it. It will remain online though; I don't plan to remove it.
There's lots of stuff going on in the Higdon family, but I'm not sure this is the place to keep listing it all. Plus, this site is close to the MSN size restriction, and more updates may push it over my allotted free space. So, the question now is whether to maintain a new site for Higdon Family news. I'll put some thought into it.
