WELCOME! This site was created to provide the novice 1978 Pontiac Trans Am enthusiast with entry level information and basic 'At-a-Glance' styled diagrams designed to help you become more technically familiar with your 78 TA. For example, you will learn where to locate engine block and cylinder head identification numbers. You can then click on embedded links which will direct you to more advanced Pontiac Trans Am related sites where you can decode the identifiers you find.
To get started, click on 78 TA Tech Map in the left column.
If you have discovered something new in the old and wish to share your excitement with others, join the site and post a photo or two of your Trans Am.
This is not a mechanical or body repair how-to site as those subjects are beyond the scope of this site. To get answers to more in depth questions, visit and join one of these friendly 70-81 Firebird forum sites www.TransAmCountry.com or www.78TA.com .
When viewing this site, please remember that while a good portion of the information will apply to Trans Am model years other than 1978, the site was compiled to reflect information which is applicable to the 1978 model year only.
________________
For those who want more information immediately, links to more advanced sites are embedded within each tech section. The links will address the very topic which you happen to be viewing at the time.
Please understand that when you click on one of the linked sites, you are leaving this site completely and are visiting a site in which the content was compiled by the creator(s) of that site, NOT by Trans Am 1978. The linked sites can be located by searching the web independent of this site. This site simply provides a short cut to some of the best Trans Am / Pontiac web sites I could find that were pertinent to the topics at hand, but they are NOT pages of this web site. While you're visiting the linked sites, add them to your favorites list so that you won't have to search later, then go back and visit them when you can't find your answers here. Also click on 'Link Credits' in the left column for a complete list of links used throughout this site.
So join up and post a picture. It only takes a minute.
Happy 78 T/A browsing. Thanks for stopping by. Click on a menu item in the left column.
