Who can benefit from this Site?

I consider myself a novice when it comes to my knowledge of various Pontiac models and years. I consider myself something just shy of intermediate when it comes to my knowledge of 1978 Trans Ams. If you've ventured this far into the site, after reading the site description, you are probably looking for an easy to understand starting point from which to build a knowledge base about your 78 TA. I emphasize knowledge base.

I've worked hard to create simple 'At-a-Glance' styled illustrations which include real photo inserts (in most cases). Within individual sections, I have included links to take you directly to more advanced sites on the particular topic which you are viewing at the time. But don't forget to return here after looking at the info in the linked sites. Usually just pressing the BACKSPACE key once (sometimes more) will return you to this site right where you were when you left.

For those of you who are well versed in Pontiacs, such as, advanced enthusiasts or professional mechanics or even salty old back yarders, there will be little of value here. This site is intended for those who wonder just what level of 1978 Trans Am they have, how to make that determination, what to look for and where to look.

Will #614 heads work on my 1978 base 400 engine? Will a rear differential that is build sheet coded 2PY work on my friends 1978 Camaro?

Are you completely at a loss with such questions? If not, then a site far more advanced is what you seek. If those questions are greek to you then you may be at the right place.

This is a great site to get you started. Consider it '1978 Pontiac Trans Am 101'. Once you have gained a knowledge base, I will not be in the least offended if/when you move on never to return here again. The site will have served its primary purpose. When you do move on, I hope you will leave behind at least one of your 78 TA photos for others to enjoy.

You can forget everything mentioned above if you like and just post photos of your 1978 Trans Am. I'll be very happy.

I sincerely hope that you find the general information contained here informative and easy to navigate. If you find some glaring discrepancies in the information contained here, please let me know. I'm not that proud and I like to learn. Thanks

Zulu
